Do not do business with Big Dog Satellite

Three days. Three install appointments. Three no-shows.

Is that a local company? I've never heard of them. I like getting the local guys in case I have a problem.

It is locally owned and operated, however, it is a franchise based out of Idaho. They sell and install Dish Network and DirecTV. I could have ordered service directly from DirecTV. I went out of my way to order from a local business. Big mistake.

I think you need to get the owner on the phone and rip ***. Anything more than 1 no show is inexcusable. The good thing is that this one post alone should cost them a lot of business.

    All publicity is good publicity?

No, probably not. Sorry to hear how poorly this is going for you.

That is your problem, they are not actual employees of Directv. I refuse to have any franchised contractors of Directv do any work with my satellite. The one time they did it, they didn't install the dish with enough support it, didn't update my dish properly for HD, and I could never get ESPN2HD. When I called Directv, they apologized and send one of their own employees out to fix everything. The guy spent two hours at my house fixing everything that was done wrong with the receivers, fixing the dish and installing it correctly, and I got a very nice credit on my bill. The Directv guys told me they spend a majority of their time fixing screw ups from the franchise people. Their remark - the franchise people only care about getting you signed up, they could care less what happens after they get your money.

Sounds like a call to DirecTV is in order. From what I've heard they will get **** straightened out even though you didn't go directly through them.

I've never understood why anyone would go through "retailer" of something you can get direct. It just adds another layer of potential incompetence, as it obviously did in this case.

The shortest distance between two points remains a straight line. If you put a curve in the line of your own doing, whose fault is that?

I hear you and I normally 100% agree. This ONE TIME I thought I will go through a local business. I'm a small business owner and I wanted to support another small business.

Again, it was a big mistake. One I will learn from and not make again.

    You would think so, but...

I called DTV and explained the whole situation. I said I would like for DTV to come out and complete the install because I didn't want Big Dog coming to my house. They said there was literally nothing they could do. The rep said he does not even have the power to call them or send them a note on my behalf. "So just stay on them, and thank you for joining DirecTV."

I said at the very least I hope you will reconsider your relationship with this retailer to which he said,"I'll make a note of it." Sure ya will, Steven.

I'm sure it will all get straightened out. Live and learn.

Email the owner, call, mail, or somehow let him know about this thread you created. Show him that its probably gonna hurt their business a lot unless he get his **** straightened out. There are thousands of people who regularly check this message board.
Tell him nothing, nothing is going to help out his business unless its coupons for a huge discount (shout out to CycloneErik)
