Reader, Ward Advance in NCAA Round One
PHILADELPHIA – Jon Reader is the top seed at 174 pounds and he looked like it in a major decision win in the first round of the NCAA Wrestling Championships Thursday in the Wells Fargo Arena. Iowa State 197-pounder Jerome Ward was also a first-round winner. The Cyclones posted a 2-3 record in the session as Chris Drouin, Cole Shafer and Kyle Simonson lost their first-round tilts.
“Jon wrestled like he is on a mission,” Iowa State head coach Kevin Jackson said. “He was in control the entire time against a guy who is difficult to score on. Overall you can’t be happy with a 2-3 record in a round.”
Iowa State is in 35th with five points after the first round. Penn State leads the team competition with 20 points.

Re: Reader, Ward Advance in NCAA Round One
Sounds like Cael is in a familiar position...leading after an early round. His trouble was keeping his team there.
Hopefully Reader and Ward can make us proud.
