    Music Downloading

What is the best and most inexpensive service to use to download music off the net? I would perfer a pay site where I won't have to worry about getting caught and all. Any suggestions??

iTunes is $1 a song if you want to go the legal route.

True, 88 cents but after I downloaded some from there something happened when I updated their software or something and now everything I downloaded won't play because it can't find the liscense for it or something. I uninstalled/reinstalled it too and I think I can't even download from there now. Not going to reformat my PC just for that. Whatever it did it hosed something up with those songs I downloaded.

If you want a subscription service, use Yahoo! Music Unlimited. If you sign up with a Mastercard, you get buy one year, get one free. It makes it pretty cheap, and although there is DRM in the subscription, I hear there are ways around that. (PM me if interested.)

Yeah, it's called making audio CDs out of the tracks you've downloaded, then re-ripping those CDs to get MP3s that you can play on just about any MP3 player (ITunes has a problem with that - unless they've already upped to the tracks that can play on any player)

Yahoo says you have to pay an additional 79 cents per song to burn them off... Is there someway around that. What works best..

That's not what I am getting at...I am referencing subscription-type services like Yahoo, not downloads.

    Re: Music Downloading

Also if you download music with that DRM crap in it, you can use this app to remove it just in case your music gets corrupt somehow from licensing. Convert DRM Music: Copy protected WMA music to MP3, iPod and other MP3 players FYI, a friend said that if you join a music subscription service with a free trial such as URGE and download a bunch of free music, you can use this to strip the DRM trial period out of it......................=) Otherwise Walmart is good as well. I buy alot of my music from Half.com since you can get alot of cds cheaper than buying mp3's even if used. then rip em.

    Re: Music Downloading

I used Real one Rhapsody for a while, but it seemed like every time I burned a cd, something would go wrong in the middle of it, and half my money would be wasted. They did have a good library, but there were some major bands missing.

I use Limewire (free) but they have an option for Limewire Pro that costs $$, dont know if that is legal because it costs or if it is just a better Limewire.
