    Drive thru runner

    Training for a marathon by only eating at McDonald's for the 30 days prior to the event.

    Do you notice a difference in training with really healthy foods…vs McDonalds? (Bob B.)
    I won’t pretend that my previous diet was a model marathon diet. But, I will say with certainty that I have felt no difference in energy levels or running performance.

    I dunno, if you subsisted entirely on grilled chicken, salads, milk, and pancakes for breakfast, you could do alright. Wouldn't be optimum, but you could do a whole lot worse.

    If you're a marathon runner to begin with and only ate about 2,500-3,000 calories a day, I don't see it being detrimental.

    There was a guy who I believe wrote a book about eating only junk food in reasonable quantities, and maintained weight or even lost it. That might mean all you eat in a day is a box of swiss rolls, and meet your targeted caloric intake that way.
