10 Rules for an Iowa State Footbal Gameday Experience

Iím sitting here on a pointless conference call so I decided to come up with a few ďrulesĒ for attending an Iowa State football game.

    • Arrive 6 hours before game time. Bring enough beer, meat, and food to last the entire 6 hours. Games are also a good idea.
    • Consume adult beverages for the entire 6 hours. It usually takes a game or 2 to get into proper tailgating form so if need be, please practice before the first game.
    • Get into the game before kickoff, even if itís just a few minutes before. We donít need another Baylor repeat.
    • Be loud, stand up, and cheer with everything youíve got. If you are shy, you may want to concentrate on hitting Rule #2 a little harder.
    • Do NOT pass gas in the stands. Everyone knows what Iím talking about it. We know it is not good for you to hold it in, but for the betterment of the people around you, holding it is required. At least until halftime when you can go behind the bathrooms and take care of it.
    • Donít complain about someone standing up in front of you. If you canít see, get your ***** off the seat and stand up with them. Help the old people up if needed. If they donít like standing, put them on your shoulders. Anything to get them up and cheering.
    • Donít be that annoying guy who thinks he is a better Division 1 coach than the guy out there. If you are really that good, you would be coaching somewhere.
    • Roll down the hill after a victory. Again, if youíve completed Rule #2 well, this will be a no-brainer.
    • Go back and tailgate for 30 minutes to an hour because it usually takes that long to get out of the parking lot.
    • Repeat the next weekend.

I agreed with everything until I got to this one. While this may apply from here on out, I think many people on this board would have to disagree with the last couple of years of coaching.

Do not hit light pole near the east entrance, while performing said rolling, with your face and require self to recieve an ambulance ride, nose stitches, and a nose tampon for two weeks - you know who you are !!

    • Repeat the next weekend.

It seemed like only about 2/3 of the stadium was full for the start of the game...it filled up by the end of the 1st quarter. We lost. Coaches and players complained about the lack of a crowd during kickoff.

Since I have never been there at the beginning, I guess I am one of those. I will start making it in. I will leave my tailgate when I hear Jeff.

We started trying to time our arrival into the stadium so we didn't have to hear Jeff.

I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies. If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around the banks will deprive the people of all property until their children wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered.

knowing it and showing it are apparently two different things.

Maybe they should have been worrying more about playing a game than the crowd.
