    Gregg Doyel.....

Always thought this guy was a little off and looking at his bracket has confirmed that notion.....

    Re: Gregg Doyel.....

what's so crazy about it? The only thing I can see that is a really big stretch is how far he has Temple going, but then again they are a pretty darn good team. He picked quite a few upsets, but none that I haven't already heard other experts theorizing about already. For example, Oakland over Texas is becoming a sexy upset pick because of their style of play and the fact that they have some really good athletes. On paper, it looks crazy, but the Longhorns aren't exactly known as overachievers in the tourney.
    I guess I don't see what's so nuts about Gregg's bracket

Temple is a good team but they're playing all the way across the country. I don't see them getting by SDSU in the second round in Tucson. And Michigan St. in the final four? I know Izzo is a tourney tested coach but they lost to Iowa this year.....and they have a possible second round date with Florida in Tampa.

Florida is one of the weakest 2 seeds in recent history. There's no clear cut favorite in the Southeast. I could easily see Michigan State making it to the Elite 8, simply because we know Izzo knows how to coach tourney teams. There are flaws in every one of their potential opponents in the first 3 rounds. After that, who knows?

I've thought about MSU getting to the Sweet 16 but no way I'd have them go to the final four.

Looks well thought out to me -- took some calculated chances -- let's compare in a few weeks

That's my point. His bracket looks a whole lot different from mine, but I can see the reasoning in nearly all of his choices. It's not like he was picking a 16 seed over a 1. He took some risks, but they don't appear to be without reason.

I agree Florida is a weak 2 and doesn't deserve that high of a seed but playing in their home state should be a big advantage.

I agree, but I would not be surprised at all if they went down to MSU. That's not a huge stretch of the imagination, in my opinion, if only because of the man calling the shots from the bench. It's hard to ever couch MSU out, just because of what they've done in the past in similar situations.

Very true, but Billy Donavan is no slouch either with 2 titles under his belt.

you're absolutely correct. That region is going to be very hard to predict. Each team has plenty of flaws, but each also has the potential to win.

What's crazy is the last time something that outrageous as he's predicting actually happened in the tournament was 2000, when a 1, 5, and two 8s made the Final Four. He's got two 1s and two 7s. Yeah, it could happen, and a lot of picks he made I also made, but his bracket just seems "out there" to me.
