    Cyclone All-Star Competition

I was just re-living my Royce White-The Wait is Over clip on youtube and noticed another video entitled "Royce White's entire Gopher career" in which he is apparently participating in a dunk contest while at Minnesota.

Have I missed it or does ISU not do this? I apologize if this has been discussed and I missed it but I am curious about this especially with the hype of the transfers for next year.

I could just see Royce, Booker, Godfrey and Ejim going at it in a monster dunk contest. Allen, Babb and Scotty gunning it out in a three point contest. This would be an amazing way for students and fans to get pumped about next year!

If this is happening and I haven't known about it, please fill me in! I would be there in a heartbeat to watch our new guys and vets strut their stuff!

Yeah I always wish we could do this.

Chris is there anyway we can try to make this happen? (I mean I doubt we really have any say in any of this but it'd be sweet?)

Don't forget about Tyrus. He hit 109 threes this year!

I agree, Allen can get up

There don't have to be any snubs in this selection process. If a kid thinks they can win the competition, let them enter.

    Re: Cyclone All-Star Competition

I remembered a thread in which a Midnight Madness event was hinted at a few times from the fall:

    http://www.cyclonefanatic.com/forum/...madness-2.html

Not sure how credible, but a couple of posts in that thread mentioned plans to do something like that this past year, until Hilton flooded. So, hopefully there is something to it, and we'll have an awesome kickoff event for the 2011-12 season.

Tavon would be good in the dunk contest. I too wish we would have one of these. They'd be so fun.

    Re: Cyclone All-Star Competition

Our best chance at something like this would be to have a Midnight Madness, but, IIRC, the athletic department here said that it counts as a practice and they can't waste a practice on something like this.

Someone just talk to a player and get him to round something up so it technically doesn't have anything to do with the school.

That's a pretty flimsy excuse. As far as I know, you get an extra 10 practices before a preseason exhibition trip/tour, so that shouldn't be an issue this season.

I'd love to see ISU get something going for that first practice where fans can come and there's some energy in the place. Make it free, have Paul Rhoads and a couple football players come in and fire up the crowd, have a dunk contest and a men vs. women 3-point shootout, give some free clone cones away, whatever has to be done to get butts in the seats. I just think there needs to be something to create a little excitement before Webster City/Fort Dodge Technical City College comes in for the first exhibition and it's all gone until the Iowa game.
