    WBB: Former Cyclones Down Under

Former Cyclone Tracy Gahan has retired

Spirit is willing, but win eludes

"American import Tracy Gahan has retired from the WNBL.
The Dandenong Rangers forward told her teammates she would end her career following the Rangers' loss to Logan in the elimination final.
Rangers coach Mark Wright said he was surprised by Gahan's decision. ''Tracy said she needed to get a 'real job' and set up the next stage of her life,'' he said"

And Alison Lacey and Canberra Capitals lost in the WNBL Grand Final

I, too, loved watching Tacy play. She had the sweetest jump shot I had ever seen. It was so good that a video of it was posted on one of those sports web sites as an example.

Great player to watch. Wasn't her brother also an ISU athlete?

My all-time favorite, however, is Megan Taylor. Just something about her.

Jeff was on the ISU men's swim team.

Brian was on the swim team for a year, then was a hoops walk-on, then transferred to A&M and walked on there for hoops.

In fact, I think BF said he scouted Tracy initially because the swim coach said he had a swimmer (Jeff) who had a little sister who was pretty good.

She's still my all-time favorite. Out of 17 individual career categories ISU tracks, she was in the top 10 in 12 of them when she graduated.

1357 career points despite never being ISU's #1 offensive option
415 career assists despite not playing more than a small handful of minutes at PG
823 career rebounds despite being primarily a perimeter player
42% career 3pt shooter and 78% career FT shooter
171 career steals -- she was ISU's best perimeter AND post defender

If the BF story is true (and why wouldn't it be), that is an awesome story.

Thanks theshadow and mred for the response. Gahan's stats are remarkable.

    And speaking of Lacey:
    JWABC5 John Walters

According to AP, Alison Lacey will not return to the Seattle Storm this season. She will instead train with the Australian National Team.
