They work. For me anyway, but I need two of them for them to work. It felt like I was on coke for the first 15 minutes when I first tied them. Since then, it is definitely an energy booster.

I may have to try it. The cost compared to a coffee or a pop is crazy though.

    Re: 5 Hour Energy

They work. I wrote a 7-page paper on the social issues that Willie Mays faced and how it affected his career, using his biography as my source. I only managed to read the first 250 pages or so (it was a 600+ page book), but with a 5-hour energy, I was able to skim through it and write the paper overnight. Got a B on the paper, so I'd say I was able to focus well enough.

I've developed a tolerance of pop. It'll keep me awake at this point, but not alert enough to really focus if I'm really tired. Puts me in kind of a no-man's-land.

It says right on the commercials that it is equivalent to ONE cup of coffee. I'd much rather brew a pot of coffee, and have about 20X the caffeine at a fraction of the price.

That depends on how much Pepsi you are willing to drink. It also lets you avoid all the sugar. They can work for most people. I've had them a few times, usually helpful, not always.

Nothing to see here mods. Keep moving.

    Re: 5 Hour Energy

The regular 5-hour energy doesn't really work like the current TV ads project. Depending on your metabolism, it could. The nutritional info is accurate. It doesn't have a lot of caffeine. That being said, I really feel the product is a placebo.

    There can be only one.

    Re: 5 Hour Energy

I've only tried it once, but it seemed to work for me then... Had to drive all-night from Kansas City back to northwest Iowa to beat out a winter storm earlier this year, took it at 2am and made it all the way back home ~630am without a problem of feeling tired (I had been up since 9am the previous day)...

Yes, from what I understand the B-vitamins help to accelerate the heart rate, giving one the "rush" feeling.

Other energy drinks, like Red Bull & Monster, in addition to B-vitamins, also have an ingredient called 'Taurine', which also acts as a heart-accelerator. I think it is also responsible for that "crash' experienced a few hours later.

Does anybody know of any health risks associated with Taurine? I see a few folks drinking a couple cans of Red Bull a day and wonder if that is good for you.

Isn't there a suggestion on cans of monster that says you shouldn't drink more than 2 a day?
