Big 12 basketball coaches on the move?

Get ready for the silly season in college basketball coaching fanatics. I have a feeling that it is REALLY going to affect the Big 12 this year. Here are just a few tidbits/rumors that I have seen/heard over the last week.

    - Travis Ford (OSU) to Arkansas?

OSU basketball: Would Arkansas want Travis Ford? | Berry Tramel's Blog

    - Mike Anderson to Arkansas?

    - What is in store for Jeff Capel? Will he get fired (probably not)? Will NC State make a run at him?

    - Will Scott Drew stay at Baylor? He's a guy who an east coast program could take a run at.

    - Pat Knight has already been fired at Texas Tech. Billy G? Who else?

Should be an interesting couple of weeks.

It is too bad we don't have an assistant job open right now---Keno Davis could bring his Michigan/East coast ties to out bench. Can't believe he got canned after 3 years

I'll be surprised if Bradley doesn't make a big run at Keno.

I think I'd like to see some crazy coaching moves in the conference. It means that there might be some chances to move up in the standings. I'd have no problem with anyone leaving.

Other than BillyG finding his way back into the picture i agree.

Is there actually interest from TTU though or is it just Billy putting his name out there for every job like he did last year?

Doc Sadler back to texas and texas tech has been mentioned in OWH.

Sadler recently went on the record and denied that rumor.

I see that one for sure. The ONLY way that isn't happening is if the school feels like the current awesome class coming in would transfer.

Re: Big 12 basketball coaches on the move?

One more note on Sadler-Texas Tech. Even though he shot down the rumor, I still wouldn't be surprised if he actually has interest in the job. It is all about money and years left on a contract. He had to shoot that down in public. No choice.

Don't be shocked to see Pat Knight end up at Texas A&M Corpus Christi or Florida Gulf Coast.

So did Nick Saban before he went to the Crimson Tide.

Anderson leaving would be quite lovely, though I think Mizzou could get a very solid replacement for him.

Re: Big 12 basketball coaches on the move?

Here's the word on the street here on NC State's campus. Sidney Lowe is going to get the axe on Monday or Tuesday. The coaches who AD Debbie Yow will be pursuing include the following:

    1. Arizona - Sean Miller
    2. Notre Dame - Mike Brey
    3. Texas A&M - Mark Turgeon
    4. Villanova
    - Jay Wright
    5. New Mexico
    - Steve Alford

This is the order in which I saw them listed. That may or may not be the order of preference. I know a guy who knows a guy how knows a guy... who said Miller is happy at Arizona and doesn't want to leave, but he's the one with the most connections to North Carolina (parents retired in Wilmington, NC, wife's from NC, he was assistant under Sendek, etc.).

My impression as a casual Wolfpack fan, is that the fans and alumni here want to keep every player they currently have (and not lose any to coaching changes), get a proven big-time coach, and pay whatever it may cost to get who they want. Even though football is a big deal here, they want to get out of the shadow of the ugly shades of blue on tobacco road and become known as more than "just a football school". The UNCheat fans make fun of Wolfpackers for being a football school despite NC State's 2 national championships, and that really upsets a lot of fans - especially the alumni w/ $$$.

On a superior-sport-to-basketball note, NC State has a #1 seed in this weekends NCAA wrestling tourney in Darrion Caldwell (149#). I hope him and all of the Cyclones best of luck in THE tournament.

I could see this and think it would be a good fit for Keno.

Is NC State a better job than any of those (short of New Mexico)?
