Interesting. Soriano is due back around labor day though so will be interesting which OF gets the bump.

At least its a sub-part power hitter kind of like Phil Nevin was, and he fills the outfield spot as well.

Is MLB considering adding a 10th Rover position to the game, similar to beer league softball?

Rumors around Chicago state Soriano could be back as soon as next week for the Millwaukee series at Wrigley...they stated last night on TV he has been progressing better than expected!

    Re: Cubs acquired Monroe

Just what the Cubs need is a free swinging career .250 something outfielder that strikes out 3x as much as he walks. Not what you'd call an impact move down the stretch. Moreover, all this does is eat playing time from the rest of the 2007 .250- .290 something hitters that have actually turned it on as of late. And really, what could more likely be the scenario with this pickup is that Soriano is no where near coming back as believed.

Thank you for telling it how it is. There was a reason the Tigers let him go to make room for a 20 year old before September call-ups. His defense is well below average at best too.

Just the way the managerial minds delve in circles in their bidden haste to improve upon downtrodden players who need career years for the Cubbies to win. Looks like Card fans are going to have a hay day soon over Brewers and Cubbies. They actually look like they have a pitching staff assembling as we write.
