    Scotty

I have to chuckle when people say that all he can do is one thing. Wasn't it just last year where all Lucca could do was shoot and Scotty was a complete player?

Id say that its more appropriate to say about JVB than Scotty.

    Re: Scotty

    Yeah, that's JVB.

Scotty has developed his game off the dribble more this year. Still has work to do on it but it's something he rarely did in the past. I look for him to have a solid senior season. Hopefully he doesn't have as much pressure on him to score next year.

    Re: Scotty

Scotty got a lot of open looks early in the season, and was outstanding. When teams locked in on him, he wasn't as effective, but still good (driving more, shooting floaters/turnarounds).

Theoretically, he should get a lot of open looks next year, with more post options on the team. I expect him to knock down a ton of open jumpers.

    Re: Scotty

Tough shooting nights for Scottie the last two games, but overall great season. The kid is a workaholic and I wouldn't doubt that he makes more major strides this off-season.

    Re: Scotty

I love Scotty and all the work he has put in. I love that he shoots lights out from 3. But what else does he do other than shoot? His scoring off the drive has been average at best since Big 12 play started. He can't defend anyone with any kind of size. He doesn't rebound. He doesn't get many steals. He isn't an outstanding passer.

The dude shoots the rock and shoots it as well as anyone in the Big 12, but I definitely wouldn't call him versatile.

I know it sounds like I'm being a hater, but I feel like I'm just calling a spade a spade.

To me, Scotty's injury hurt more than other teams locking down on him. I would like to see his shooting percentage pre injury vs post injury. I have had bone chips in my elbow. It hurts like a sum*****.

I know you're trying to be accurate, and you are, but I feel that a lot of people are expecting too much from a college kid. He's a shooting guard that has an emphasis on scoring. That's his game. He's not a rebounder. He's not an "all-around" player that crashes the boards like a Jake Anderson. He's a guy that takes a shot, and gets back on D. He's not the best defender, but he's much better than he was last year, and I think we have every reason to believe that he's going to get better next year.

Point is, people need to know the role he plays, and know that he fills that role. He played with an injury (bone spur in his shooting arm) and he'll be better next year. He's not a do-everything player, but he's a solid guard. Leave it at that.

    Re: Scotty

I'll say it, I think people try to categorize Scotty as only a "shooter" because he is white. He can do a lot of things and is a solid all around player.

I was gonna go there, but you beat me to it. Well played, LindenCy.

Honestly, I hate to do it, but in his case, I think he gets stereotyped. He is much more athletic than he gets credit for. Not saying he is a superstar, but he is solid.

That could be, but he had far fewer wide open looks in the mid- to late-season. Percentages go way down with a hand in your face. Either way, I hope he's healthy AND wide open next year.

    What does he do?

The way I think about it is whether or not he starts next year at the 3 vs Babb.

I think McGee is going to play PG and Allen is locked in at SG.

Who would be better to start at the 3? Who would be a better 6th man? I think Scotty is starting quality, but he doesn't bring much to the spot as a 3 except shooting where Babb brings size, rebounding, great on ball defense and shoots it a little worse than Scotty. Babb is still a very, very good 3pt shooter.

    That is my dilemma.

Well, I don't want to stereotype.
