Could you imagine if Pollard followed Gene Smith?

The vision that both of these men have is unbelievable.

True story. Dang the timing... I wish we could've kept Gene Smith--look at the programs that he got running at Ohio State and is working on in the desert at Arizona State...

Gene Smith had a vision of finally getting his athletic program at tOSU out of the red and into the black, but it didn't happen.

I think we appreciate the masterful vision of Pollard in part because of BVD.

Re: Could you imagine if Pollard followed Gene Smith?

Gene Smith was a terrible businessman. He left us in shambles. He got out before we realized how bad things had gotten. BVD was left to pick up the pieces. BVD did a lot of things that were necessary, but very hard to swallow. BVD was great with the budget, but lacking in the PR dept. So when he did what he had to do, it ruffled a lot of feathers. Now we have Pollard, who is great at both the budget and the PR. Gene Smith was not as great as some might think. BVD was not as bad as some might think. But, Pollard is definitely better than any of us could have imagined.

I don't want to be rude, but he left ISU for ASU, and it's pretty debateable how his tenure there went. Mr Smith is not held in a tremendous amount of esteem in the valley of the sun.

Now he's politicked his way to tOSU, where he doesn't even have a budget to be constricted by, so how good do you have to be???

Im just glad I have Homan as my bodyguard, Eustachy joked. If I ever make it real big and get to drive a limo everyday, hell be driving it. I thought he came off the bench like somebody was stealing his cow or something.
