    Buying BB hoop for driveway

I really want to go with Goalsetter, but thought I'd check here what others have. Likes and dislikes. My wife and I would shoot on it, lots of kids in the neighborhood, but a lot of BB hoops already. My son is a tall 7-year old so I would think he will play BB for years to come.

I'm looking at the Contender, but don't know whether to get external or internal height adjustment, etc.

    Thanks!

Goalsetters started in Pella, Ia. and my family got one in 1994. We have never had a problem with it and it is very easy to move up and down for all ages with the crank. It will make your 7 year old stronger.

I don't have one but here is what I know. After high winds I can drive down the street and see nearly all b-ball hoops flipped over. I guess that means to put it in the ground.

Goalsetter is the way to go. My parents have had one for over 7 years and has withstoood 200 lb men dunking and hanging on the rim every summer. Sturdy yet easy to raise and lower.

I have a produnk for the kids... Very similar to GoalSetter -- my neighbor has one of those... About a 1/3 less money --- They key is to put in correctly -- dig the hole 4ft down make it plenty big so you don't get sway down the road.

Re: Buying BB hoop for driveway

    1) Buy the All-American, Signature Series with Heavy Duty Rim and Regulation Glass 72"

    2) Grade and compact 4" of crushed stone on a good subgrade; then form, pour, finish 5" of concrete with #4 rebar at 24" o.c. in a 50'x50' pad (light broom finish). Water cure concrete or use a non-residual sealer (see paint below)

    3) Paint High School, College, and Pro markings on concrete after it has cured for 28 days (minimum).

    4) Install exterior lights on 4 poles at 25' height.

    5) Buy the Backboard Coffee Table with Iowa State Logo

Backboard Coffee Table, Accessories - $199.00: Goalsetter Systems

    6) Please email me when complete.

My neighbor painted his driveway and it looked sweet.....for about 3 months. I'm assuming he didn't use the correct paint or something.

We put in a goal Setter about 4 years ago and love it. Highly recomend. On a side note
I have to repaint the driveway lines in the areas where our cars drive over every spring. Anybody have suggestion on best paint to use on concrete?

I agree with this. I can't even begin to count the number of hoops that have toppled and broken in high winds in our neighborhood. It is NOT difficult to install an in-ground system and I would definitely recommend going that route.

Re: Buying BB hoop for driveway

We have a goalsetter and it is very good quality. Plus they are made in Iowa! As for painting the court, I asked somebody at Menards which paint to use and they directed me to a type of Dutch Boy brand paint. I cannot remember exactly what the paint type was called but if you ask somebody at Menards they should know. I painted my court 3 summers ago and it still looks great today! They can even make the official ISU colors for the paint. If I wasn't at school, I would post the pics of the court.

Going with Goalsetter here soon too. Any best place to purchase? I've checked at Backyard Adventures and Rainbow Play Systems. Prices seemed pretty comparable. You can get them at Scheel's too, but I'd rather deal with a local dealer and personal rep.

I got ours at rainbow, prices are the same no matter where you go, and I got a "free" ISU pad for it. I had them do the install since it was only $200 extra. Well worth it.

If you're going to buy a hoop you might as well get a pole at the same time. Lots of places sell them together.
