Looks great if you want to keep your own crowd out of the game.

    Re: Vanderbilt Basketball Arena

It makes me uncomfortable watching the game on TV. Its like there is something that they are hiding and that they dont want you to see.

    Re: Vanderbilt Basketball Arena

For some reason, I've always liked how they have "endzone" benches rather then sidelines benches we usually see.

    Re: Vanderbilt Basketball Arena

Living in Nashville I've been to a few games there. VERY loud place! Yes it is shaped odd and the court is large and raised, but its a historic gymnasium and the loudest place I've ever watched a game!

They've been playing there since 1952. You just noticed it's unique?

Nope, both baskets have the very long support beams... They have to be 15-20 feet long!!

    Re: Vanderbilt Basketball Arena

I told my wife the same thing while watching today. I think as a coach it would be hard when your team was down on the other end. Also can't yell at the refs as easily.

One of my best friends is a Vandy alum. He thinks the disadvantage of some of the crowd being a little further form the court is more than outweighed by the Vandy coaches and players being used to the end line benches and opposing teams not being used to it. They seem to hold their own in the SEC against teams with recruiting and $ advantages over them.

I remember wondering wtf it was when I was younger and Iowa played there (Iowa fan till I enrolled at ISU).
