    Pete Taylor

died on this day (3/5/03). It doesn't seem posible it was that long ago. 2 of my favorite calls were "The Runs". 1st from Marvin Seiler against Nebreska. ... He's at the 40, the 35, 15. He's down at the 3 yard line. Marvin Seiler nearly breaks it all the way. The other was from Seneca Wallace against T Tech. ....He cuts it back. He's at the 10 to the 5. Touchdown. Oh what a run by Wallace.

Pete had so many favorite calls to choose from. What are yours?

It's impossible to narrow down my favorite call by Pete.

Pete narrated my experience of Cyclone sports for the first 23 years that I followed them. His voice goes along with all of my best Cyclone memories.

When I see an older video or hear and audio clip of a great game or play, I always get chills hearing him.

Pete Taylor was special. We were very lucky to have him as the voice of the Cyclones.

Same here. He had that voice and animation that made you feel like you were at the game. Perfection.

I'm going to go old school, but the first call that endeared Pete to me was Barry Stevens' shot to beat Mizzou.

"here's the kick... a little wobbly..."

Seriously, there needs to be some kind of monument to Pete around Hilton and Jack Trice. We already have statues for Jack and Johnny, but Pete needs something.

In 1984, I was hospitalized for approaching perfection.

    Re: Pete Taylor

It seems like forever ago. I was out of town for work and got an internet feed late in the game and didn't realize what was going on at first. He and Eric are what I think of when I think of Iowa State.

We were awfully lucky to get John to replace him though......

Maybe Pete's got some extra luck up there today or our teams :)

I second this, obviously all the great in game calls he made are memories but I have lots of good ones of pre/post game stuff either driving to or from JTS, or tailgating outside the staduim. Pete was just part of my Cyclone experience growing up.

    Re: Pete Taylor

What I loved about Pete is that he never sugar coated it. Within seconds of tuning in you knew how the Clones were doing, "Another huge whole in our line... we can't stop anybody today". He shared your highs and lows and was a fan of the Cardinal and Gold just like us.

This +1000. I love Pete Taylor. The man had a genuine love for ISU. It came across in his voice.

This may be a bit different from some of the other responses, but I always loved Pete's call for Dedrick Willoughby "THREEEEEEEE by Willoughby". I am so glad that Pete got to see the 'Clones in bowls and in the Elite Eight before he passed away.

Didn't Pete's son post here at one time. If you are still here, just know how much we loved your dad.

    Re: Pete Taylor

Thanks for posting on this imaclone2. Pete was a huge part of ISU to several generations of Cyclone fans and it's good to take a little time on this day to remember Pete with a smile and maybe even a little tear or two for a great Cyclone and friend.

Yes, I've posted on here once or twice. The love and memories of ISU fans is amazing and I'm glad I got to experience some of it with my dad. I told the moderator, or whomever runs this site, that this is a good resource for finding audio clips, pictures, videos, etc. because our family doesn't have a lot of that stuff.

PS: Apologies for the user ID. That's my typical internet handle and it's not intended to incite or provoke.
