    Better State for Basketball Recruiting?

I'm curious what everyone thinks is the best state for basketball recruiting? Growing up in Illinois, playing against and watching the talent in the Chicago area, I always thought Illinois was. Obviously, things have changed a great deal in the last 15 years, but I thought I would throw this out there. I may not have the best four in the country, but of the four, what state do you think produces the best High School talent?

    # of recruits by state in the Rivals 150 for 2012:

    CA: 12
    TX: 12
    NC: 11
    NY: 3

CA and TX are huge, so somebody could make the argument that NC is the best, due to sheer size of the state... I voted for CA before looking this up because I thought they had more.

I think New Jersey is underrated, although I would assume most would just lump them into NY

Try to keep in mind how many of the players playing at the North Eastern private schools in Mass, Conn, and NH actually grew up in New York.

That can be applied to other areas as well. There are plenty of guys that move to a different state in order to get more noticed. There are people that will move their kid to CA, IL, etc., if they think their kid is the real deal too.

Another obvious omission is the DC area. They have some of the top AAU programs...

NY is probably a better place to find NBA type players but not necessarily college type. When I think NY, I think playground ball. Lots of one on one.

Re: Better State for Basketball Recruiting?

I feel like NYC-Area bball has gone by the wayside these previous seasons with teams like the Knicks, St. John's Red Storm, Seton Hall Pirates suffering had a massive impact on where recruits ended up, and interest in the the basketball scene....but since has had increase in talent......Overall it seems like the talent has been spread out with the emergence of prep schools popping up in previously talent deprived states like Nevada, with its findlay prep that has produced players like Cory Joseph, Tristan Thompson....and even the Brewster Academy in New Hampshire....which i'm sure most people can associate that with Craig Brackins and Melvin Ejim.....
