    2011 Dodge Caravan

Really nice review by a guy who's normally pretty hard on US made stuff.

Dodge Grand Caravan rises to the top of the class - USATODAY.com

I'll be needing a family hauler in another 2 or 3 years. May take a close look at a used one of these. I assume they'll still depreciate far faster than the Japanese ones.

Yes, that is eye-opening. James Healy passes out car compliments like man-hole covers.

My concern with Dodge is still reliability. I have an '06 Caravan that's been a total P.O.S. I was reluctant to buy it in the first place, but we had a really good employee purchase program with Chrysler at the time and I felt I could not pass it up. Now I wish I would have.

Edit: And a big WOW on the 2011: 13.5 mpg in town? REALLY??? NO THANK YOU.

I (sadly) have a 2009 and can't really complain. It does the job and is great for trips. Still a MV though.

2007 here. Decent van, no major issues and almost 80,000 miles now. Great for what it is, with plenty of space for 2 young kids and all the things you need for them.

    Re: 2011 Dodge Caravan

I might consider it, if it weren't for the fact that every time I drive a Dodge/Chrysler minivan, within a half an hour of driving it my right knee begins unbearably cramping up - an issue that existed in the 1995 version, the 2002 version, and the 2009 version, which undoubtedly means that it will also exist in the 2011 version.

Perhaps I'm being unfair to Dodge/Chrysler - EVERY minivan I have ever driven my right knee has cramped up - Chevy Astro/GMC Safari, Toyota Sienna, etc. Which is why I have no intention of ever owning a minivan. Perhaps a CUV or small SUV, but driving minivans are just far too painful on my knees.

Chuck Lidell: I paint my toenails with pink and black polish. Problem is, I get more paint on my toes and on the carpet than on my nails. Any advice?
Maria Sharapova: Don't you beat up other guys for a living? I don't know how to answer this.

My dad is still running a 2004 Grand Caravan SXT. It has over 185k on it now and is running strong. Of course, I have been giving it great maintenance all of its lift. Including Mobil 1 oil since 10k on the clock.

It still gets 20-21 in the city and 23-25 on the road. Been a great car.

Good times on Hawkeyenation.com after the 2010 Wisconsin Game!

My wife still drives a '96 grand caravan with no issues. Over 140k miles on it. Only thing we've replaced is alternator and brakes

Exaggeration is a BILLION times worse than understating.

    Re: 2011 Dodge Caravan

just dont get into a front end collision with a chevy or any other vehicle. i drove an 09 i think for work and i had a front end collision with a malibu and the front end crumpled like a piece of paper. i was going less than 10 mph (same for the other car) and the malibu destroyed the front end. the van started smoking (might be because the radiator (i think) was pushed back near the engine block. the only damage the chevy had was a slight paint chip above the headlight and a cracked headlight. Im not a genius when it comes to car parts so im not exactly sure what was smoking and why but i know the damage was far worse to the dodge than to the chevy.

i will probably be buying a chevy whenever i buy my first car

Cash test ratings on new ones are good.

Just remember, it's cheaper to fix a car than your neck.
