    Opening Roth IRA Online...

Any suggestions for sites to go through. Fidelity looks to be all right.

Mines through Scottrade and wifes is through Schwaab. Both are good and impartial.

Very much agree..... No Load funds and they are always available for a phone call (ie: Vanguard and many others are closed on Sundays but T Rowe is open). Just rolled a 401k from a past employer over to them.

Have my regular IRA with Charlie Schwab who I also very much like.

Have stock in E-Trade so I like them too. The stock price hasn't done real well since I bought them but those baby investors in the commercials seem to really know what they are talking about.

What are you going to do etf, stocks, mutual fund? Know what you are going to do and use the company that will fit your needs. How many hours a week are you going to research investments? If you want to go to a private company, Morey-Voorhees out of Omaha will treat you right. Their standard stock portfolio has beaten the DJIA every year but one since 1996. Of course it is fee based.

    Re: Opening Roth IRA Online...

I would need a little more info..... I use/used Vanguard, Fidelity, TDameritrade and Scottrade. They all have their +'s and -'s.

    What is your experience level?

Are you going to trade stocks, mutual funds or ETF's?

How frequently would you be buying funds/stocks or rebalancing your allocations, in other words how active will you be?

Will you be contributing more capital monthly, yearly, or from time to time when you have some extra $?

I would throw Vanguard in the mix as well. Depends really on how active you want to be with it.

Yes.... Vanguard is good. I use them for the SIMPLE-IRA that I give the men that work for me. They are "no-load" except for $25 per year fee and the guys get to pick almost any kind of investment that they could imagine. Very good return so far.

Vangaurd would be easy and dependable if you are mutual fund only. It is all up to the time you want to spend or have available for your future.

They also have free ETF trading, with no time restrictions on 49 mutual funds as well. It is a great way to dollar cost average into indexes without having to pay the higher management fees that most mutual funds maintain.

I'm with Vanguard, as others said depends on whether you want mutual funds.

I don't do signatures. Blondes, brunettes, and red heads are a different story.

I like Scottrade because it's cheap and lot's of good tools. Not a lot of frills. Schwabs maybe gives advice a little easier and better for a fee, but plenty of free information especially if your a customer.

I'm mostly a mutual fund guy.

I would say most likely mutual funds and/or ETFs although I am very new to this. I'm 24, I just want to get my money into something to get it started.

Good for you. One of my best investments has still been the money I put into the stock market when I was your age. That stuff is still worth about triple what it was.
