You can use your ipad to program or control any TV in your house. Very slick, and works very quickly.
I think it's nice that DirecTV has brought out something to give their customers a lot more value than what they have now but it's like a $500 remote for all of your TVs in your home. I think DTV is extremely expensive and if someone wants to use this app, they should be given a lot more value. I work and subscribe to DISH Network and I use the DISH Remote Access app and I think it's far more superior in the technology because I can watch live or pre-recorded shows without an issue. It's supported on iPhones, iPads, iPod Touches and Android devices. It's free in the App Store and in the Android Market and you can use it any and everywhere you go. I love it! I am always recommending that people check out DISH Network and I am inviting anyone who comes across this post to explore the endless possibilities with DISH Network and experience a value unseen by any other TV provider!
I looked into this - I have an hd receiver but it does not have wireless Internet. If I bought an USB Internet adapter, it would work except that my network is secure and there is no way to plug in the password on my receiver.
I could lease the latest hd receiver with a wireless receiver with a cash outlay of just $200... No thanks.
