    Diante Garrett's FT shooting

I mentioned this in my Monday Musings and some conversation has taken place because of it. It has to do with Diante Garrett's improved FT shooting. I just realized that during Big 12 play, Garrett has gone 23-of-25 (92 %) from the charity stripe. Garrett is 55-for-69 (80 %) on the season.

Heading into his senior year, Garrett was a career 70 percent FT shooter.

That's a shockingly low number of free throws for some one who has the ball in his hands as much as he does.

    Re: Diante Garrett's FT shooting

The guy is now a shooter. He makes layups, three pointers out front and in the corners, 12 footers, and even tear drops. Looking forward to seeing him play at the next level.

He should shoot more, yet CFH obviously is trying to spread the duties out among the five people on the floor as Jake and SC dribble the ball more in the last five games.

Last home game for a four year player coming up.

The improvement is impressive. Also, it seems Godfrey was hitting some clutch FT's Saturday. Fred has really overhauled and improved our shooting performance.

He doesn't take it to the rim all that often and in close games teams don't foul, they just wait for us to turn it over.

It appears when he goes to drive into the lane from the left side that the refs do not call fouls when it may be hacked. Obviously, he lost the ball several times. We would be best off to let JVB crank it up from outside and then go get the rebound.
JVB can basically shoot over any of his defenders.

Free throws he made Saturday stand out as one of the very few times Garrett has come through in the clutch. I'm not hating, that's just how it is.

I think DG is getting fouled plenty, the refs just are not calling it.

    Re: Diante Garrett's FT shooting

I gonna say this quickly before people die of shock ... DG has actually improved in a lot of areas this year and has had a fine senior year; better than I expected. Yes, he hasn't performed in the clutch but give credit where due. He's actually played damn well and we wouldn't had nearly the season we did except for his contributions. And the man is a machine and just doesn't get tired. And to Chris original post, yes DG's free throw shooting has been much improved and he's hitting at key times too; gotta like that.

You really have to forget everything that DG has done the past 3 years, he is a completely different player this year with this offense. DG is really one of the fastest players taking it to the hole that I've seen at ISU. The guy has just been blowing by people this year.

Just think about all the people before the season saying DG wasn't a Big 12 player. And don't kid yourself, there were a ton of people saying that. It turns out, he is likely the BEST PG in the Big 12. The numbers back that up.

Here's the deal. Please list for me the times Craig Brackins came up big in the clutch. That's where I have a problem. DG get's destroyed for this stuff and no one else ever get's called out for not coming up big.

Yeah, and he doesn't have much to help him rack up assists.

Right and wrong. He's been money throughout his career at FT line in the clutch. Finishing drives in the clutch I'll agree with you.

While on live TV, Ford used a vulgar term to describe a private part of the female anatomy, adding that he was “happily married” and “got more than enough to eat at home.”
