BASKETBALL RECRUITING: Ray Lee last night.

So I watched Ray Lee Ray Lee - Yahoo! Sports play last night.

Top-ranked Romulus rallies past No. 4 Kalamazoo Central late, snaps Maroon Giants' 27-game winning streak at Zuidema Gymnasium - MLive.com

I would offer my honest opinion, but as my last thread on fouling at the end of the NU game went so well with my honest opinion, I'm debating if I should just give my optimistic in the face of reality, faithful Cyclone opinion. It seems to be popular these days with the Cook situation, the Odunsi situation, the Lucious situation and the ever too hopeful we always have next years squad, so I'll keep it positive. I think he Could, well maybe, pan out better for the Cyclones than Dominique Buckley.

Sorry, here is the box score. A quick note, Romulus was losing from the first basket until just under 1:45, usually by about 7-11 points. Ray Lee did not play the last 2:30 seconds of the game.

but Elbert Matthews did, he's a 6' 3'' sophomore who looked really good.

    passive aggressive much?

ps. it's not anyone else's fault that your opinions on the fouling situation were stupid.

    Fixed it for you.

Agree with the passive aggressive part, though.

Sounds like it is a sixth man, like a Bubu.

So how did he look? I am hoping we don't get him because I'd rather get Okoro and Dingle. And I would also rather get Cook. If he's not going to be any better than Buckley than I sure hope we get someone else.

I hope ISU does not get this kid. He never struck me as anything more than a role player, which is what ISU does not need. ISU needs impact players.

It looks like they really spread out the shots on that team. The most FGs made on the team was 4 and the leading scorer had 14 points.

If you click on his name you will see he averages 12 points a game. I would like to see his assist numbers.

Re: BASKETBALL RECRUITING: Ray Lee last night.

Okay, here's as honest opinion I can give after taking a really long deep end of a bad season breath to clear most of my pessimism.

Ray Lee reminds me of Scotty without the smooth stroke from the 3, DG without an explosive move to the basket, Anderson without his hustle and shear will to get the board, and Ejim with his ability to get out of position and foul.

One airball from three, his first shot was a nice cut to space and he put up a shot that hit the top of the backboard from about 7 ft (I wasn't sure if he was going to hit the backboard). It is too bad that Turnovers weren't in the Box Score. I'm pretty sure I saw four, and I think he left the game with 4 fouls, 3 of them because he was just plain out of position. Kalamazoo Central's best player in the last 5 years was a 2 star who went to a MAC school last year - Devin Oliver (Great Kid). Central is very well coached and has pretty good talent, but they are the type of team that can expose an athletic team that isn't very heady (basketball IQ) or plays with a lot of quickness and athleticism but doesn't play defense. Central should have won the game last night as they were up the whole game and seemed to have it in the bag. Ray looked okay on Defense and he showed two flashes during the game, but I went there expecting to watch the best player on the court who could potentially be a good pick up for ISU and I saw maybe the 4th best player on the court. I REALLY liked Elbert Matthews though. VERY smooth, good dribble penetration, could get up and down the court through traffic very well, and he made the game look easy as a Sophomore. I hope we start really looking at Elbert for 2013, but unless Ray Lee really develops this summer (the optimist Cyclone fan side of me in the face of reality), I don't see him being much better than Buckley.

Staten will be better than Lee IMO. I just don't see it.

I prefer Staten without a doubt. I'd still take Gessel though. Hopefully we can get Dingle and Okoro.
