This Hawk off-the-field issues got me thinkin...

Odds are that they will be kicked off the team from what I hear, which is a totally just punishment, but it got me thinking back to multiple other times where college athletes got in trouble, but not enough that warranted getting kicked off the team, so instead they missed the team's first "cupcake" game or games of the year or sometimes only 2 quarters of it.

I believe this serves no purpose whatsoever, and teaches the student-athlete no LEASON whatsoever...so why not make people in those types of situations sit out the first conference game (which obvs. matter a heckuva lot more)

    Same applies for college basketball.

Too much pressure on coaches to win games. I think when a player misses a game or twi (especially in football, not so much bball) it sends a message and is a legit punishment. Nothing worse than standing on the sidelines watching when you could be playing.

Because the coaches are making a lot of money to win games ... it might not be right but it is what it is.

but then i think it would just enhance the pressure of the coach to recruit kids who are stand-up guys who aren't going to get you into that mess even if that means getting the #20 guy in the nation instead of the #3 guy bcuz he has off-the-field issues. I guess I just want to see the playing field leveled just a smidgen more this way or make college teams recruit class acts. I don't really want to see players have no "REAL" punishment for getting in trouble, just bcuz they are extremely talented and mean wins for the ballcoach and school.
