Fred: "The wins will come... I promise that"

His words on his latest show. Check it out if you haven't seen it. He was really appreciative of all the fan support and said something like "what other one-win team in the country has this kind of support". He's right, too. He talked about going to ISU games when he was growing up and how special Hilton is. We've all heard the stories but seeing him say it is pretty cool.

If we do in fact live up to expectations next year, Hilton will be rocking. If fan support is strong even now, imagine next year with a winning team!

I think the success for this season will be determined if Fred can get at least 1 of the 3 seniors an invite to a NBA summer league roster. The talent will come to Ames if he can get a Cyclone with only 1 conference win this season an NBA audition.

I do think the wins will come. But just to be a d-bag: has a coach even been like "man, I don't know if the wins will come. We're probably going to lose a whole bunch and never be successful. I'm a horrible planner, and even worse executer"?

Re: Fred: "The wins will come... I promise that"

They'll come. One huge difference this year from last: How many WTF losses did we have under the last coach? Gobs! (You could look it up). We're losing now, but you can see them coming. Their legs are gone, they get outjumped. It's fatigue. The effort is there, the other team doesn't lay 10 on us coming out of halftime due to our (lack of) adjustments. These losses don't hurt as much.
Imagine this year's effort executed by the returners and redshirts. We won't run the table, but I can see us in the top half, easy. Haven't been there in a while.

Yes, that has been said. In the form of a coach not saying the wins were going to come.

Hearing CFH saying what he said has me stoked for future season, and not just next season.

What coach in his first year doesnt say that?

It's more than talk to me. Some guys have "it" some don't. Fred has "it". I'm sure of it. We all know people... friends, coworkers, former teammates, whatever, who have "it". They are successful in whatever they do. It's a tangible that winners like Fred all have.

Gotta agree with this. In the past years, I had no doubt that we would be the worse team in the second half because of our lack of coaching skills.
Hoiberg is a good coach, and with that talent and depth next year, watch out!

I'm not completely disagreeing with you, I get your point and agree with it but to me these loses hurt a little more because we are so close to winning (with a few exceptions) these games.
Last we would get those 10-15 pts against after halftime and it would be "hear we go again." Now at least I get frustrated at the end of games instead of right after halftime. But I love the effort these guys are giving on the court.
