    Whataburger

I always see commercials during the Big 12 games, and I'm heading south for spring break and hoping to stop at one. I was wondering how they are....

    Re: Whataburger

I always wondered how they could afford to play those ads all the time when there isn't a single Whataburger in the entire Big 12 North states.

I've been a couple times, but I wouldn't call it memorable. It's pretty typical fast food. It's on par with Sonic, I would say, but with a less extensive menu.

its not good at all. Especially compared to all the other chains we don't have, in and out, jack in the box, etc.

I ate at one on the way to the Insight Bowl. It was not good, imo. The burgers were extremely greasy and everything else was average or below. Inn-n-out on the other hand, was -very- good. I saw Coach Rhoads eating there.

    Re: Whataburger

Its been awhile, but I dont remember them being any thing spectacular. They used to call their super sizing "going all the way". I would imagine they quit that slogan after their employees were routinely asking customers if they would like to go all the way...

If you like Mcdonalds you'll like Whataburger. How good of a sandwich do you expect for a couple bucks. Go just to say you've been there, might as well hit up Jack in the Box while your south as well.

    Re: Whataburger

We ate at the one in Tempe by our hotel late at night and I thought the food was pretty decent. Nothing super special, but it was pretty tasty late night food (might get better the later it gets!). Their burgers were pretty greasy but I remember the chicken someone else had was good.

Because they are advertising primarily to Texas (where they have a ton of locations)...and maybe Oklahoma...not sure if they have locations in Oklahoma or not.

As for the food...it is fast food...and the location you visit will certainly impact your experience. I laugh at the poster bemoaning how greasy it is...it is supposed to be...it is greasy fast food after all!

They always seem to have a "limited time" offering that is pretty good...I like the Honey BBQ Chicken Strip Sandwich (get it on the Texas toast) which they have going on right now. My favorite is the BBQ Cheddar Burger. The A1 Thick and Hearty Burger is pretty good. The Chop House Cheddar Burger was also solid. Their breakfast taquitos are very good...especially when they have them for 99 cents. The BOB (Breakfast On a Bun) is also pretty good. Lastly, they make very good shakes and both the fries and onion rings are tasty...as is their ketchup.

I cheer for two teams, Iowa State and whoever is playing the hawkeyes.

Well isn't this disappointing information. I was hoping for some kind of Harold and Kumar excursion in search for the all-holy Whataburger. Shucks.
