    Cyclone fan traditions

We need to start some better traditions here at Iowa State. I am honestly jealous of other Big 12 schools that have really cool traditions, mostly what students do during games. There are some crazy examples of cool traditions (ex. Cameron Crazies, KU Rock Chalk, anything at Texas A&M) that obviously we probably can't match.

But simple stuff? We can do simple stuff. Broken record or not, calling our song "Go Cyclones Go" a "dumb, f-in song" is unacceptable. Let's make our own words, then!

Did you know there were words to the song played after touchdowns, "For I, For S"?

...Did you know that song had a name? Did you know we PLAYED that song?

Ok... enough of the negativity. I've got a few suggestions, albeit raw and not refined yet. I love the Cyclones and want us to have an awesome atmosphere at games. No matter how simple or complex, it will look and sound awesome. Let's see if we can start new traditions for future Cyclones!

Tradition I do like: basketball games under 4 min timeout, student runs around Hilton with the ISU flag as fight song is sung three times. Great idea, we need more!

There's a reason the thread went unanswered for so long. You don't just start a tradition. They have to happen, and survive.

My crew and I have developed a pretty unfortunate tradition over the past half decade or more. Our tradition is we all get together and watch the Cyclones not win.

    Re: Cyclone fan traditions

Not sure why this topic ****** everyone off, but oh well.

I suppose I agree that it would be nice to have some kind of well known tradition that was unique to Iowa State.

However, every manufactured tradition that I have ever seen has been lame and short-lived.

He does have a point.. We have no traditions compared to other schools. The only thing we have is the mythical ghost of hilton magic.

He's right. You simply must sit on your arse, typing thousands of stupid posts before you could possibly have an idea worthy of being read by the geniuses frequenting this board. Sheesh!

I do like the flag guy run, but I think we should have an official record for how long it takes something for people to strive for. Have the scoreboard time it somehow.

...how about a hand sign like the other schools (A&M, Texas, Texas Tech) have... I've always thought that the extended middle finger salute resembles our current I-State logo pretty darn well...
