    Daniel Dingle and Okoro Honors

Dingle was named player of the year inCHSAA League (New York City Catholic School League. Okoro was named to the first team. This is a very competitive New York league. We are recruiting them both very hard right now. Some say we are the leader for Okoro and Okoro and Dingle are best friends. This could end up being a great coupe if we could get both of them.

I'm not getting my hopes up. Saint John's has turned their program around and get to play some of their games in The Garden.

True but these kids have been to Iowa State and know where our program is heading. They also understand that we are in a down year but we will have talent next year. We beat St. Johns for Tavon. Now we can beat them for these two.

The thing that bugs me about St. Johns is that they have a senior led team, and got rid of their coach questionably after they were really starting to hit their stride last year. Steve Lavin gets all the credit. We already out recruited him and Huggy bear from WVU for sledge. I love that were going after that NY pipeline.

I am not sure if I can say we are "outrecruiting" these schools. The main difference is Lavin and Huggins come across multitudes of talented players. If they miss out on a guy, they know they will get another. For Iowa State, getting somebody like Sledge is a potential make or break. If we don't get him, we gotta dip into the MVC/JUCO circuit.

I just think the ISU staff does a good job making these kids feel heralded, while the other schools look at these kids as being replaceable.

Regarding Lavin, recruits don't really care or think about who gets credit for what. All they are seeing is St. John's beating ranked teams, getting ranked themselves, and playing some games in The Garden (a mecca for basketball).

With recruiting, it isn't always about facts; it's about perception... And with schools like Kentucky, it's about $$$

Have you seem lavins recruiting class though? It's impressive losing out on tavon will hardly affect them

Re: Daniel Dingle and Okoro Honors

The problem with Lavin is not recruiting. He had great class after great class at UCLA. He just could not coach them. The smartest thing he did at St. Johns is hire Kady to come help him. Learn from one of the best ever. With his recruiting and Gene helping him coach he can be successful. St. Johns is a sleeping Giant in basketball. They might have woke up. However, I still think we have a great shot with these two kids.

How many people will we be signing for 2012? I want us to get Okoro and Dingle but at the same time I'm wanting us to get Cook again. All three would be amzing.

We'll have 2 SR SGs (Allen & SC)
Hopefully RW will stick around for another year after next season.
Other than that it's about players transferring.

I'm sure we will have someone transfer. It happens every year. Okoro and Dingle would be an awesome recruiting class.

    On Okoro:

"Okoro feels 'real comfortable' at Iowa State"

"Nkereuwem Okoro has a handful of high major programs showing interest, but one Big 12 school is starting to separate themselves from the pack."

Sounds pretty good. If you have Scout.com insider, you can get the whole article.

I saw Okoro was 6-4 215, can somebody give us a breakdown of his game? Is he a shooter or a scorer? Lock down defender, slasher, how's his handle?
