Can football ever get enough respect worldwide to became an Olympics sport?

I think that football will be an Olympic sport by 2020. Just like boxing, it can fit in a game once a week and play the tournament out beforehand to qualify for the top 8 spots. Do you see football being recognized as an Olympics sport before cricket, sumo wrestling or soccer?

i dont see it since its pretty much only big in the US. there are fans worldwide but the majority are in the US. it would be great to see it but i think soccer would become one before football since it has a bigger worldwide following and would get much better ratings

Isn't soccer already an olympic sport? I'm pretty sure it is for the summer games. It jsut doesnt get the same draw as the Fifa World cup.

No. The olympics are not going to add a sport that is completely dominated by one country.

Soccer is an olympic sport. For the men they only use under 23 players with like 3 exceptions.

Re: Can football ever get enough respect worldwide to became an Olympics sport?

Football players are almost exclusively American. Because it's an American sport. They just got rid of softball because the U.S. dominated it. They're not about to add another sport that the U.S. would win easily every year.
