No reason to rush into choosing a college.

There's nothing wrong with being the 2nd or 3rd choice to the prom as long as she puts out and doesn't give you herpes.

The college basketball season is still going on and a lot of changes happen during the off season. I would wait. You never know, I also like the idea of Iowa state waiting, you never know which player from what program is going to leave.

That's my take, even if CMW doesn't agree with it.

Re: is Korie Lucious (sp?) looking for a place he wants to be

Obviously if Hoiberg (and the team) want Lucious to come, then I'll certainly support their decision. I can see that the limitation of having only one year of competition left can be offset by having an/some experienced and proven D-1 player/s on your scout squad for a year. This year makes a good case for that theory. Hoiberg may be planning on having at least a remnant of experienced players on redshirt solely for the purpose of having a tough scout team combined with the opportunity to merge/ease an experienced player into his system.

Regarding player development I also sometimes wonder if Coach Hoiberg thinks primarily in two or three year increments instead of four or five. His experience with the NBA would be that teams are rebalanced or rebuilt annually more often than not. Coach may be going after players with the assumption that they will play only one or two years. He may not be trying to get a four-year player because if they stick around for four years, they likely were not candidates for being a lottery pick. This would mean that even if an experienced player isn't going to be a lottery pick but has demonstrated that they can be productive for at least one year, the player would fit into Coach's concept.

Before this season, I would not have gone after any player that had only one year of eligibility left with the possible exception of Jake Anderson because I needed experienced bodies on the floor this year. I would have wanted players to develop. This year's experience, however, is changing my mind. This strategy combines win sooner at the risk of longer-term development but if the winning brings a higher level of player that wouldn't be staying for four years anyway then I'm all in.
