    WR 2011

Nobody has really talked about the Wide Reciever position too much so I figured I would spur up a little discussion. Personally the two WR's I'm most excited to see next year are Donnie Jennert and Jarvis West. Donnie is a slender 6'7", runs a 4.4, has great hands, and high jumped near 7 feet in high school so you know he has a great vertical. Jarvis is a 5'7" speedy slot reciever. He runs a 4.3/4.4 and was one of the fastest in Florida as a senior in high school . I think Donnie provides a great deep threat while Jarvis provides a quick slot reciever. I'm also excited to see Darius Darks' improvement over the offseason as well as Josh Lenz who I think will prove to be a good slot reciever. Darius Reynolds also gives me hope. He also runs a 4.3/4.4 and is very strong.

Overall I have a good feeling about this recieving corp. They have a lot to prove but I think they have the ability to be very good.

Just for fun, here's what Jarvis said about himself and Dexter McCluster when Ole Miss was trying to recruit him. "I have a good relationship with those guys. They want me to be another Dexter McCluster and fill in his position. I knew Dexter when he was Largo. I use to watch him play. He is pretty shifty, but I feel like I am a little more shiftier than he is and probably a little more quicker than he is."

    What are your thoughts?

    I'd like to see Donnie Jennert run a 4.5, much less a 4.4. He's more like a 4.7 guy.

    Re: WR 2011

My bad with our receivers is the guy throwing to them. We have got to find a QB who can spot them and make the throw. Yards after catch would be my second bad on them. Seems like when we do complete a pass we get next to nothing. Just my assumption, I didn't look up any stats.

QB is the key to our WR's!

I don't see him being a 4.7 guy. everyone has him at 4.49 out of high school. Keep in mind he was also a sprinter in high school.

If Donnie ran a 4.4 he would be a freak. His 40 time coming out of HS was 4.5. Jarvis ran a 4.5 coming out of HS also. I don't think anyone on our WR corps runs a 4.4.

I appreciate your enthusiasm, but you need to be careful about quoting 40 times from the recruiting sites.

Jarvis' forty time has fluctuated. I have found times ranging from 4.33 to a 4.5.
And I know Donnie might not have that 4.4 time but he's still fast and being a sprinter he has good long distance speed.

I guess I really should have worded my forty times a little better to say that they CAN run that. I know they might not all be completely accurate but these are times that these guys are capable of.

Just because someone ran a time that a HS coach documented doesnt mean they actually ran that fast of a time.

I am also excited to see some of the growth out of the guys in this class. Bundrage and Ecby could be very dangerous in the future and if they are at all explosive I want them on the field. Also, look for Lampkin to make a special teams impact early... serious straight line speed.

Where are we getting these 40 times? West on film looks like a 4.4 guy. He is also a 10.7 hundred guy at 5-nothing, so he is likely one of the quickest guys on the squad. Rivals or Scout listed him at 4.3, the other at 4.5. Also Reynolds does not run a 4.5 anymore. Rhoads said that the only WR on the team that ran 4.5 or better was Josh Lenz. That included Mr. Reynolds.

The NFL combine is a perfect example of how times are overinflated. How many guys run in the 4.4s there? Usuallly 10-15. A lot of guys re in the 4.5 range, and if you check back, most were listed at 4.4 or better out of HS. In other words these reported times are bogus. Unless Rhoads lines his guys up, and times them in a 40, we won't know their real speeds.

Yeah I wasn't so sure about Reynolds anymore. Reguardless, I think these guys have speed and potential to do great things.

There are lots of players that looks fast that don't run great times. And there are plenty of players with good times that don't look that impressive on the field. I want this squad to look fast on that field, to be able to seperate, make the catch, and turn it downfield for big plays.
