Too bad he couldn't stay healthy, what a stud.

While on live TV, Ford used a vulgar term to describe a private part of the female anatomy, adding that he was “happily married” and “got more than enough to eat at home.”

Guy played harder than his body was physically capable of handling. Too bad - the guy played the right way and kept getting injured as a result.

Chuck Lidell: I paint my toenails with pink and black polish. Problem is, I get more paint on my toes and on the carpet than on my nails. Any advice?
Maria Sharapova: Don't you beat up other guys for a living? I don't know how to answer this.

I've met him before, seemed like a pretty nice guy too.

It may be my anti- Hawk bias coming through, but I always thought he was a dirty player. Led with the crown of his helmet. A lot. And never got called for it.

Very classy statement from Bob. Hope he can come back, games are more fun to watch when he is playing.

    Re: Bob sanders released

My favorite Bob Sanders memory was in the 2002 Iowa game Hiawatha Rutland had a decent run but at the end Sanders came in and blew him up. The announcers were talking about what a monster hit and how Rutland would be best served to stay away from Sanders. The next play Rutland blasted Sanders and doubled him over on a block, breaking Sanders' ankle.

In the NFL he just plays in a way that his body can't handle. What did he make it this year, 1 series before being injured for the season?

He'll have plenty of teams willing to take a chance. Definitely my favorite Hawkeye currently playing.

Bob Sanders is by far my favorite Hawkeye of all time. This guy played out of his mind at all times. You got to love guys like this.

He's awesome when healthy. But as an owner, I couldn't justify paying him money to sit on injured reserve.

    Re: Bob sanders released

Definitely my favorite player, and now I'll have to find another NFL team to root for (never really had a legit favorite, just rooted for the Colts because of Sanders and Clark).

I remembered reading somewhere a year or two ago that Sanders had shrunk like 2 inches since coming into the league, because all the hits had compressed his spine that much. Sounded like that's not an uncommon thing, but that Sanders was going at an alarming rate (think, that was maybe a year ago, and he's basically only played 4 years).

He could still help a team out A LOT if he stays healthy. But I think he should give serious thought to retirement.

“With the exception of tm3308. He is a good contributor on this site. It is almost to the point that I question if he is actually a hawk fan. ” -- Cyclonestate78 7/25/2011

“He broke the mold. If he wrote the OP, I would have read the whole thing.” – CycloneErik 7/25/2011

It's too bad Rutland was fighting injuries all the time, he was pretty dang good at times.

I would not mind the Cowboys taking a chance on him. If he's healthy he's a great addition, if not cut him.

    Re: Bob sanders released

Great player when healthy. Unfortunately, the injured days far outnumbered the healthy days. I saw on Twitter that the Colts paid him $25 million over the last 5 years to basically play 9 games.
