    Crazy Video -- Possible? Fake?

Looks cool -- I am saying fake -- I don't know if it is plausible -- need Physics and Chemistry to comment on this one.

I suppose if you used clear jell-o instead of water it's possible.

    That's crazy...I don't think it's real though.

Not real. This is not possible. Someone wants you to clean up a big mess.

    I mean

This works! I just did it on my dinning room table. Sorry, my camera is broke.

Not real, the wonders of video editing make this possible.

Not real. At least not in large amounts like that. Water will hold itself together, but only for a tiny bit (ie if you fill a glass a little past the top, it'll have that 'dome')

The dome you are referring to is known as the meniscus. This is due to hydrogen bonds.

Re: Crazy Video -- Possible? Fake?

    LMFAO at that being real.

If you want chemistry, the intermolecular hydrogen bonds between the positive hydrogens and negative oxygens of an H20 molecule are what makes water hold together and form that "dome" type form instead of spreading out flat on the table. However, these bonds are nowhere near strong enough to hold water upright like that.

Water does do other tricks, like have a huge temperature range for being a liquid which basically allows life on our planet to exist.

But then I did it outside on the back patio table in North Dakota at -43 Wind Chill, now having problems getting it to release from the cylinder glass formation....?
