    Godfrey's Ceiling

Godfrey appears to have the highest ceiling on this year's team. He played great defense last night, very physical. He's very fast running up and down the court, has quick feet and has a nice touch around the rim, being able to use his left hand.

If he continues to improve, I can see him starting in games where we need to match-up with the other team's size. He is going to be a beast by the time he's done, maybe a pro. His intensity/attitude is sorely needed to toughen up our team

    Re: Godfrey's Ceiling

His stat line of 11 pts, 6 rebs (3 off, 3 def) and 2 steals in only 19 minutes is definitely impressive. Having said that, I was actually a little disappointed with his foul trouble. I know he is just being aggressive, and a few of his fouls were a little ticky-tacky. But I was really looking for him to play 25-30 minutes. I do think his ceiling is very high. But I think Railey and Ejim's ceilings are also very high. I'm very excited to see these guys progress. I want to win right now, but the one good thing about JVB's injury is we get to see Godfrey & Railey play more minutes.

    Re: Godfrey's Ceiling

I don't think Railey and Ejims ceilings are as high as Godfrey's. I am excited about Godfrey and it is kind of a silver lining that he will be getting a lot more minutes/experience to close out this seasons.

    Re: Godfrey's Ceiling

He looked good last night. It was nice to see a big man trying to bang with the other big men down low last night. Like it says above I was disappointed with the foul trouble. We saw last night that we need him in there for quality minutes and he gives us that. He just needs to watch the fouls. That being said he is only a freshman and is still learning the Big 12 game, which is probably very difficult. Given time I think he will fit in with the others that we have coming.

    Re: Godfrey's Ceiling

I was really impressed with how Godfrey played last night. He played very hard (as did the rest of the team) and picked up some good offensive boards in the 1st half.

That shot he took on the 1st possession was priceless too.....I was like "no, no don't shoot that!......wait, did he just bank in a fall away right hook - from 15 feet - in the middle of the court - with a guy in his face?.........maybe this is our night."

Godfrey and Railley committed some dumb fouls, but it's good to see them get after the other bigs. I think both of those guys will be solid contributors the next 3 seasons.

Him and especially Railey need to watch their moving picks. I cringe each time they do it because they don't get called for half of them.

    Re: Godfrey's Ceiling

Calvin's got a lot of upside, no question. He's a fun player to watch.

He's got a strong body for a freshman, but I'm excited/hopeful to see how he can transform that body during the offseason. If he can pack on more muscle and strength to that frame, and magically grow an inch or two (which I guess isn't out of the question, he's still young), he'll be a beast. He's got very good feet, very good dexterity with both hands around the hoop, and an aggressive attitude. I really like seeing him become more 'offensive' minded. He was looking to score last night.

I agree with everything you said except for the possibility of Godfrey being a pro. He's too short to ever see the NBA. Maybe Europe or the D-League if he really develops, but his NBA chances are zero.

    Re: Godfrey's Ceiling

I like godfrey but I wouldnt say he has good touch around the rim. Last night he did pretty good but the rest of the seasons hes had a dard time finishing. Id say its still something he needs to work on. When he does get the ball on the block he takes some pretty off balance shots and fade aways. He made the one but he doesnt look very smooth on offense. Kinda looks like he just throws it at the basket with very little touch on the ball. That is something he can fix in the offseason. And Id still say Ejim has the highest ceiling. You have to remember hes playing out of position. If we can ever get him at the 3 I think he can do some great things.

Zero? You have no idea if he's done growing or what is in store for his future. The odds are against an NBA future but not zero. So you are saying that you'd give me 1,000,000,000:1 odds on a $1 bet for Godfrey to NBA? That's better than zero so I gave you a break.

    Re: Godfrey's Ceiling

Godfrey was slipping the screens like it was his job last night. He was catching the lob passes in good position, except one. His skills are continuing to grow this season and no doubt over the next 3 years he will give himself a chance to be a prob.

He needs to learn post moves, right now he must fade away due to size mismatch.

    Re: Godfrey's Ceiling

He usually is lost on defense and that causes the fouls. It should help him next year that we'll have better perimeter defenders and he'll have another year under his belt. I would say he and Ejim have about the same ceiling, average to slightly above average Big 12 starters.

Railey is the worst screener, that I have seen in my life. I think he could get called almost everytime for a moving screen. Shouldn't be hard to correct.
