    Made my son watch

When we went ahead of A and M snd then lost the lead, my son asked if I would turn to a different station. I told him "NO". These players deserve to be watched. Then about that time the announcer said "lets see if Iowa State has enough stones in the sack to win this one". These guys are iron men. I am really impressed this year. No true developed big man. What would have happened if GMac would have stayed? Just like football we just need to keep getting good players, the coaches we need are here.

When you take a look at what the team has done with what they were dealt, this season has been a success. I am looking forward to seeing what will happen with a few extra players.

I can answer that. ISU would not have had leads in 6 of the losses in the final minute of the game.......ISU would have been down by 20 by then. The 5 kids redshirting this year would have been redshirting somewhere else, so all of us fans would have nothing to look forward to but some HS kids. Hilton would have had about 60% of the crowds it has had this year and ISU would be looking for a new coach about right now. So basically ISU would be about 3 years behind of where it is now. FH has a stable of ready to play kids to suit up next year (too bad they couldn't keep DG 1 more year).

Also what is wrong with your kid? when i was a kid i watched every minute of ISU basketball and even football (a lot of 2 win seasons). Tell him to turn off the Hanah Montana and turn on some sportscenter.

And adults, too. There aren't that many people that hang in until the end if they assume a loss.

There is nothing wrong with his kid, it's what happens when we have extended losing seasons. The kid's formative experiences with ISU basketball were probably mostly under McDermott. These are going to be very different fans than those who were raised on Johnny Orr, Tim Floyd and Larry Eustachy. Hoiberg will have to win them back with exciting, winning basketball. We have to turn casual fans in diehards instead of turning diehards in casual fans.

After starting 13-2, I thought for sure we'd have more than one conference win at this point. That's why I don't consider this season a success at all. Blame our lack of depth, blame what you will, but a 1-10 conference record has me bummed.

Me too, but I love the effort this team gives every game. Last night was fun to watch, even though we lost, gotta stay positive and support this team.

I agree it's rough watching losing basketball, especially when so often we've been so close to winning. If things had fallen our way we at the end of games we could have been looking (so far) at a 7-4 conference record and 20-6 overall record. Unfortunately, things haven't played out that way.

The one thing I do take comfort in, though, is this year's team would have kicked the crap out of any of the last 4 years teams, and this team has the least talent and depth of any of those four teams. It's tough to always have to play the moral victory card, but watching the way these guys play this year really has me excited for what they can possibly do next year.

True, but if someone would have told me that we would have started out 13-2, I would have never believed them.

Shoulda, woulda coulda, but there have only been a handfull of games that we have not been in at the end so it's not like we are getting beat by 15 every game.

Not going to lie, a much more disturbing scenario came to mind when I read the thread title.
