What brought you to Iowa State?

I'm asking what brought or caused you to attend ISU?

For me, a lot of my friends attended ISU. Now, as a freshmen, they were all juniors, but I knew that ISU was going to be where I went to college.

    There can be only one.

Re: What brought you to Iowa State?

It was my lifelong dream to be an Architect, but my parents wanted me to pursue Engineering. Since ISU offers both programs, easy choice (I wanted to go to Iowa until I found out they had no Architecture program and their Engineering program sucked compared to ISU. Got my acceptance letter from ISU and I never looked back).

Ironically, I graduated from neither program - I ended up with a JLMC degree with minors in Economics and Psychology.

Studying software engineering. Doesn't make sense to go somewhere out of state to get the same or worse education and pay $20,000 more a year.

Oh and both my parents and my grandpa graduated from here. My brother goes here. And I've been going to football games since the year I was born.

Re: What brought you to Iowa State?

When I was in junior high, teachers discovered I have a knack for writing, and thought I would be good for journalism. Talked to the school counselor about it, and she advised Iowa State had a top notch journalism program. Plus that was the same time Lane Danielsen was making a name for himself on the football field at Iowa State, and since we hail from the same school district, it made the decision even easier for me.

Yeah, I'll be 26 when I graduate with my undergrad. College has been one bumpy ride.

Dad and grandpa both went here. Was my lifelong dream, grew up a die hard Cyclone fan which is VERY hard growing up in CR.

In first or second grade I made myself puke so I could go home and watch the men play in the Big 12 tournament.

Re: What brought you to Iowa State?

I went to ISU for grad school. I narrowed my choices to ISU and Mizzou. The reason I went to ISU was because when I visited I was treated like a recruit and when I visited Mizzou I felt like they really didn't care whether I was there or not. I felt like the people at ISU had a vested interest in my education. I was a dual major in Econ and stats and the two depts worked together. I didn't get that feeling at Mizzou.

Before I visited both schools that week, I had told my wife that I was most likely going to go to Mizzou, but after the week was over, both of us knew that ISU was the right choice.

Re: What brought you to Iowa State?

Parents went there. That and the fact that they sent my a prefilled aplication along with a full ride scholly offer. I just had to sign my name in two spots and put the papers back in the envelope and I was in. I had an amazing 5 years.

I was treated like this when I visited LSU. Prospective Chem Eng grad students got the recruit package and then some, because there aren't those pesky NCAA regulations governing grad students. We stayed at the hotel usually used by donors right between the baseball and football stadiums and the dept. paid for everything. It was pretty much amazing.

Re: What brought you to Iowa State?

It was a toss up between majors.

Went to Iowa/ISU to look at the campus.

ISU's beauty made the decision easy.
