Anyone Taken Tractor Power, TSM 335?

Has anyone taken this in the past? If so, will I be able to skip the pre-reqs for it, take it and be just fine?

I considered taking it but was told that there is a lot of math/calculus related stuff and it wouldn't do me that much good unless I was going to build tractors.

I took it a few years ago. I have no idea what the prereqs are at this point, but I was an ME jumping into an Ag E course and didn't have any problems. It's much more hands on than the ME courses. I enjoyed it, and most of the big assignments were done in groups, so you can latch on to someone who knows what they're doing if you get in trouble.

Re: Anyone Taken Tractor Power, TSM 335?

I took it because I was an AST major. It was my favorite class in the major. The math is just basic algebra and equations. The concepts are pretty cool. You look at horsepower and torque curves on an engine dyno for one lab and get to take apart an engine and rebuild it for another. It is somewhat challenging, but it is also a class where I learned the most. I took it in 2004, so it may have changed a bit, but was probably my favorite class at ISU.

Hope you don't get the engine my team rebuilt. Not sure if it ran right when we got done with it. ;)

Re: Anyone Taken Tractor Power, TSM 335?

I think I'll go ahead and give it a shot, I know a little bit about this stuff but I'm sure I would learn a ton of valuable information/skills if I take it.

    Thanks for the input guys.

I took it as an AE course about ten years ago, was a good course. What does TSM stand for?

Re: Anyone Taken Tractor Power, TSM 335?

wait ISU had a class called "Tractor Power" and i was not aware of this? Great Scott!

The one constant through all the years, Ray, has been baseball. America has rolled by like an army of steamrollers. It has been erased like a blackboard, rebuilt and erased again. But baseball has marked the time. This field, this game: it's a part of our past, Ray. It reminds of us of all that once was good and it could be again. Oh... people will come Ray. People will most definitely come.
