    Music playing apps for Droid?

Just got all my music loaded up on my new Droid. Currently using the standard music player that came with it and it sounds fine, but wondered if there were any free music player apps that were better? I see Real Player has an app, anyone tried it?

My one complaint with most phones/mp3 players is I've never had one that plays smoothly from song to song, it always inserts a gap. Very annoying when listening to live music or "Dark Side of the Moon."

I never had an iPhone but I was strongly considering one. After looking into it though the Droid was a better option for me.

Same here, since I am an ex iPod user (sold it when I got the 32gb SD card for my phone) and I am a mac user pretty much all my music is on iTunes. Doubletwist is great for iTunes users, I haven't looked at any other music players (powerAmp and etc) but I'm exceptionally happy with double twist. They have been slowly updating it and it looks to be very full featured soon. (they just recently added "See all songs by artist" which was my biggest gripe before the update) Any issues I have had with it is more likely because i'm using nightlies of CM7 on my phone.

Ok, I'm really going through a quandary right now as I am dealing with that same issue. except I currently own an iPhone 3gs. I am up for a new phone in the next week or so and I am debating if I want to stay with Apple and wait for the iPhone 5 or jump to Verizon and get the new Droid Bionic when it is released. Recently my best friend who is an Apple junkie made the jump over to an HTC Desire HD and he absolutely loves it. I have been a huge fan of my iPhone but after reading some things about the Bionic, it's making me think twice.

hahaha, I originally meant WinAmp from 1999 when I was in college and it was the only cool music player. Then I go to Winamp Media Player - MP3, Video, and Music Player - Winamp and see that they actually do have a Droid player and are still in business. Although gotta love the photo they show of they player has an all '90s classic rock lineup.

i use power amp. Should I stay away from mp3 download apps? free is usually too good to be true, especially downloading music.

Re: Music playing apps for Droid?

Doubletwist is OK for a free app. Doesn't really 'look' all that cool. I'd probably use the RealPlayer beta app before Doubletwist though...

PlayerPro is a paid app. Downloads artist, album, and genre art automatically for you. There are several themes to choose from, lockscreen customability, and much more. Does not play videos, however...

I didn't look into the same phones you are considering, but after comparing the Droids to the Verizon iPhone the decision really became a no brainer for me.

First, although I love iTunes, most of my music was not purchased through iTunes and what little was I upgraded to their DRM-free format. So that kind of negated the hassle of getting music onto my phone since I could just copy and past it onto a micro SD card.

Once the music issue was eliminated, the two things that really turned me off to the iPhone were the price and the fact that there is no removable storage. I already had a 16 gig memory card from a previous phone and I got an HTC Incredible with 8 gig of onboard memory for $50. Add that to my 16 gig card and I got a phone with 24 gig of memory for $50, vs $199 for a 16 gig iPhone.

I realize I'm a little behind the times with the Incredible, which is soon to be replaced, but I still feel like I got a good deal and we have a second line we're not currently using so I use that to get a new phone every year.

Oh, and perhaps the best part was, I sold my old phone (LG Chocolate Touch) for $75 on Amazon.com. Sounds like a lot of money, but for a buyer who broke theirs mid-contract it's still much cheaper than buying a new one.

So net of the net, I got PAID $25 to get a new phone.

doubletwist for me. I like how it syncs with iTunes upon plugging it into my computer.

I also like how it works with the Sync feature in my truck.

Re: Music playing apps for Droid?

I've been using this one for a while and really like it. It replaces several other apps on my phone (FM radio, soundhound, etc...).

I used to use MixZing. It's pretty cool in that it suggests music you might like based on what you're playing.
