    Williams/Arnaud CF Podcast: 2-15 Edition

In today’s edition of the CF Podcast, Austen Arnaud and I take an in-depth look at the 2011 Iowa State defensive line. Will Quinton Pompey play as a true freshman? Who will he have to beat out? In addition to that hot topic, we discuss:

    - Korie Lucious’ fresh option
    - Backlash from the Grammy’s
    - The Rock’s return to the WWE
    - And of course, The Bachelor

Like you guys said, not to start rampant rumors, but Haughton possibly coming back would be HUGE. Hope it turns out for the best!

Re: Williams/Arnaud CF Podcast: 2-15 Edition

I'd like to hear what Arnaud has to say about the questions you ask more.

For example, early on you asked a few questions and then kept talking before Arnaud had a chance to say anything.

I'd also like to hear more about football where you give Arnaud the floor and really listen and ask more questions from there based on what he says.

For example: Haughton may make it back to campus was a perfect for additional question follow ups - what year of eligibility would he be if he makes it? If he doesn't make it, will he still get a degree somewhere? Have you kept in contact? How's he holding up? Any idea of what the deadline date for him to make it back is? etc.

On DL, let Austin say more about the depth and what he's seen in off-season drills, weight room, possible postion transfers, etc. Who needs to step up and should based on his perspective next year?

Who of the backup receivers do you expect to see playing time and why?

Have you met Steele Jantz or any of the other early transfer players? You think any will contribute this year or too early to tell?

You've got a guy who knows 2/3 to 3/4 of the team so get his take on all position questions or coaching questions. Get him talking about what he knows about.

With the new round robin schedule and the tough out of conference games this year, what needs to happen for the clones to make a bowl in 2011?

Will ISU beat Texas this year or will it be a beat-down of Chizik proportions in 2011? What will be the keys to making this a game that need to be answered and how confident are you they will be answered favorably?

Here's just a few I'd like to hear his comments on:
How about his take on why did the passing game struggle so much last year?

Has time and space given him a new perspective on that or the 2010 season in general?

The more football the better imo when you have the ex-starting QB who holds many records AND is an Ames native AND his father played at ISU...like did his father playing at ISU have something to do with Austin wanting to play at ISU?

What did his father give as advice in the recruiting process?

How hard was it to hear negative comments from so-called fans?

How did your father/coaches/yourself help you to overcome that?

What advice can he give current fans in how to properly support the team and players and when is it most important?

What were the highlights and low lights for you over your ISU career?

What win meant more to you: Texas or Nebraska?

Which recent ISU QB inspired him more - Seneca or Sage?

I would say take more of the mod role and let Austin roll and only reign him in if it goes too far South. EDIT: At least on football. Other stuff where you're the expert switch roles.

    Ok, you get the idea....

The podcast is good. I've listened to them all. Austen is always candid and insightful.

The Greg McDermott love-fest is funny but we all have our things/favorites.

Going on how Arnaud said Tiller would be the best to manage a game...well we need a QB that can do more than that. We need a play maker.

Thanks for the input. I appreciate it. I take it this is your first listen? We've covered a lot of that stuff in previous editions. I think we've done five or more. Like another poster pointed out, you're welcome to take part in Austen's Friday chats at 12:30 every week on our front page.

OK, so I've been outed as an ignorant noob. Glad to hear I'm way behind the curve.

It's best to just think he'll never be back on the team. Then if he does come back its huge news, and if he doesn't who cares.
