    What is good?

There are a lot of varying predictions from very few wins to 8 wins. What is a good season for Chizik's first year?

Would love to hear what everyone here thinks...

p.s. I know this is an old topic but thougth as we have gotten through practice I would ask again...

As far as depth goes though, the combination of White, Woodbury, Olaseni, Basabe, and Uthoff is much better than Niang, Ejim, Edozie, Gibson. Not because of the top 2, but because of the next 2 or 3. -DeanVogs

    Re: What is good?

Wins --- KSU, UNI, KSU, CU

Losses ---- Iowa, Toledo, TT, Texas, OU, Neb, Mizzou, KU

    4-8... but an improved team.

Those are my realistic picks. Of course I hope we win a lot more than that.

    Re: What is good?

A good season would be 6 wins or more. If we get 4 or 5 with a good foundation laid, that is realistic.

    Re: What is good?

With what we return, and how we played last year, I'm bracing for a 3-9 season. I'm also hoping for a 9+ win season though.

    Re: What is good?

Good, at least for this year, shouldn't be measured in wins and losses (although Gene will never say that).

We sold a pile of tickets, and that will be something that JP will count on in the future. What we need to see is basically the same thing that we needed to see last year (and this is not a Dan slam 12), we need to see hopeful football. We need to see an indication that we are going to be genuinely competitive once Gene gets his system, and players into place.

JP never would have made a change, if that would have been evident last year. And, more importantly, he thought he could sell tickets.

    Re: What is good?

Good would be 6 wins, or 4 to 5 wins, with a nice upset thrown in there. Great would be 7 wins. 8 wins, and I wet my pants publicly at the game.

    Re: What is good?

I agree with the 6 wins would be good, or 5 as long as we beat at least one quality opponent. Improvement throughout the season would also merit a good season.

Improvement should NOT merit a good season. It should be expected. I don't care how crappy a team is, if they don't get better at all, something is VERY wrong.

    Re: What is good?

I also think that the first couple years under Gene will be measured about the same as last year and (hopefully) this year for McDermott...did the team play consistantly with a good effort? did they execute the fundamentals? did they improve as the year went on?...and were they dealt with properly if they misbehaved off the field? I am glad to see people are optimistic about Chizik, without putting unrealistic expectations on him for at least his first year here.

    Re: What is good?

Expected is 4-5 wins with significant improvement.
    Good is 6-7 wins.
Spectacular (and unrealistic) is 8+ wins

What is good? Winning a big 12 north title would be a start, since ISU has never won a football title in my lifetime!

Anything less than a football title is where we have been for around a hundred years!

4 wins is acceptable, 5 is good, 6 is great.
