    Recruiting Florida

Sure seems like we're doing a great job at recruiting down there, we got 2 recruits in the top 100 and when you look threw the top 100 it looks out of place to see Iowa St. in there.

    Great Thing!

    Re: Recruiting Florida

I think this will be a pretty common theme for this staff. With so many roots in the Big East/ACC/SEC this staff has lots of ties there. Like you said its nice just to see ISU up there, it can't hurt for future kids to see stuff like that.

I think the staff is also doing what they need to do to improve their recruiting in the state of Iowa at the same time. This whole staff is earning their paychecks.

With Quinton and Quenton we should call the duo Q Squared.

It's great to see ISU on that list twice.

But I was even more shocked to see how many times Louisville was on that list.

Charlie Strong (used to be DC at Florida) can recruit his *** off. I think if Strong stays they are going to be with TCU at the top of the Big East.

If he gets L'Ville to that point, I think he will get an SEC gig pronto.

    Re: Recruiting Florida

National Signing Day on ESPNU talked about the difference between Texas and Florida recruits. They said that Texas recruits come up as more polished and near finished products, while the Florida recruits are raw, but just as good athletes. In Texas the high schools have great facilities and at least 10 coaches on staff while in Florida theyre lucky if they have 3 coaches.

    Re: Recruiting Florida

Weird, ISU has two of the three commits on that list going the Big 12 (yeah, I know it is a TX-centered conference). And, the Big 11 only has six commits in that list, where ISU's two guys would rank 4th and 7th of 8 if ISU were in that league. The Big 11 is definitely more FL-focused than the Big 12 is.

Just looking at the list, there are a couple of additional guys that ISU was in on and had a semi-legit shot at landing:

    31. Curt Maggitt
    82. Frankie Williams
    86. Josh Grady

We were in on a lot of those players. What I found interesting was Pompey ranks higher (66) than Lonnie Gosha(83). He was a 4 star recruit we were pumped was even going to visit us(he committed to Arkansas a day later, and never visited). With Pompey our name comes in front of Ohio State, Florida and USC recruits.

I think I would rather recruit Florida where we can steal recruits from Big East schools that have the same disadvantage of playing up north, than recruiting Texas and having Baylor or some other instate school steal them. But I also like the way we recruit Florida, Texas, and California pretty hard right now.
