Tiger Fined By PGA For Hocking a Loogie

Isn't the PGA getting a little too sanctimonious ? Or was this because the event was in Dubai? Geeze they'd freak if any MLB player made the tour.

Tiger Woods fined by European Tour for spitting

"Ewen Murray, a commentator for Britain's Sky Sports, said on air after seeing Woods spit on the second tee during the second round that it was "one of the ugliest things you will ever see on a golf course."
On Sunday, after Woods spit on the 12th green, Murray said on air that "somebody now has to come behind him and maybe putt over his spit. It does not get much lower than that."

If it was a big, green loogie then I agree. Should have left the green to do it. If it was just some saliva, no big deal.

You don't do that on the green. Seems like a legit fine to me.

Re: Tiger Fined By PGA For Hocking a Loogie

Legit, the same happened to Sergio a few years back.

Tiger should have been fined in addition for his play yesterday, can't remember Tiger shotting 75 when entering a round 1 off of the lead. He is obviously not the player he was before "the incident." The guy has more talent than any other player, but if he can't get his head straight, there is no way he breaks Jack's record and he might not win another major again. The young kids are getting good and aren't afraid of Tiger, they are like sharks in a pool of blood.

Re: Tiger Fined By PGA For Hocking a Loogie

Has nothing to do with "Eurotrash" and everything to do with Tiger being too lazy to walk a few meters (since this is the Euro tour we're talking about here) and hock it onto the rough of the fairway. This is the PGA we're talking about, and he's been part of it for nearing two decades now. He should know better than that.

Oh..10-4. You mean that it was because he did it on the green? I guess that could be discourteous if it disrupts the putting line.

But they won't fine you if you spit on the fairway ??

It wasn't the PGA...The quote you even posted says that it was the European Tour.

    couple questions:
    1. Isn't the European tour part of, or under an "umbrella" of, the PGA?

    2. Can you hock a loogie on the green if you play in a US PGA tourney?

This isn't even close to what Sergio did. Sergio deliberately spit into the cup.

Big difference. Different tour cards even different rules books. The European tour utilizes the Royal and Ancient rules while the USGA operates with their own interpretation of the rules. Most of the rules are the same but there are some small differences even in the equipment that can be used.

There is actually two separate PGAs that govern over the two tours.

Didn't realize they require different tour cards. Is the "The Open" (British Open) part of the Euro Tour?

So all those US players who participated in Dubai, and the other Euro events - do they have to qualify for a tour card, or do they get an exemption since they have a USGA card?
