    Jerry Sloan unexpectedly steps down

Report: Jerry Sloan to resign - CBSSports.com

Class guy. Did things in the SLC that will be hard to duplicate. He'll be missed.

Chuck Lidell: I paint my toenails with pink and black polish. Problem is, I get more paint on my toes and on the carpet than on my nails. Any advice?
Maria Sharapova: Don't you beat up other guys for a living? I don't know how to answer this.

Re: Jerry Sloan unexpectedly steps down

He just signed an extension last week. I think this might be really bad news. Possibly health problems.

Nobody but HB knows for sure. You pretty much know nothing....like Knownothing would like to say.

I have the same worry as you. After having just signed that extension I'd imagine it would have to be something pretty serious -- his own health or someone close to him -- to get him to step down.

When he signed it, I thought "Wow, this guy will last forever."

    This seems really sudden.

Since we are an elite team now, let's go get that One Cyclone Moment.
Make this one for the ages!

There is a source that is claiming his top assistant is resigning too...so that might discount the health concern...I hope!

Too bad, easily the most underrated coach of the last couple of decades. When you look at how disposable NBA coaches are these days its even more incredible just how long he was in Utah.

Yeah I think the fact that they're both leaving eliminates the health issue. Something must have went down behind the scenes recently, Sloan is the last person I would expect to step down mid season.

Re: Jerry Sloan unexpectedly steps down

According to the Jazz beat writer, Sloan and Deron Williams had heated confrontations early in the season, two weeks ago, and last night after they lost to the Bulls.

Figured something was up when the morning stories mentioned that Sloan always meets with the media immediately following games. But last night he was in a meeting with the GM for 30 minutes and would not comment about it afterwards but did say he would talk about it today.

He is as first-class as anyone in the NBA!

It sucks when the inmates try to run the asylum, but that seems to be the direction of the NBA.

I have remained a Utah fan since the Jeff Hornacek era mainly because of Jerry Sloan. He is an awesome coach! Definitely has gotten the most out of his teams.

The way it is reported at ESPN makes it sound like a lot internal conflicts between him and players.

Longest tenured coach in professional sports. 23 years as the head guy at Utah. That's pretty amazing in this day and age. Wish him nothing but the best.

The players led a mutiny and now run the show at SLC.
