    Whooo-eee coach, Financial Aid fun...

I've been dealing with U of I financial aid office for the bulk of the afternoon about my wife's tuition for grad school. Let me tell ya a couple things.

    1) ISU rocks, iowa - not so much. Nice enough people over there. Not what I would call the "most together with help and/or info"

    2) You kids hitting the books next week. You have my unending sympathy. Grad school tuiton - tuition alone - for her this fall? $4500.

I went to ISU back in the early 90's, for the whole year - room and board - in the neighborhood of $4500, if not less.

    Sheesh.

(yes, you may now blast me for having a wife at hawkeye-tech. But at least it's at the extension here in dsm. And I still love her anyway)

Now, back to your regularly scheduled programming of ticket arrival day and uniform selection giddiness.

I have a law degree from EIU. It chaps me every day when I go to work that I have to rely on my association with EIU to pay my mortgage.

Do it online with Walden Univ. It was the cheapest I found for my Masters in Education, and the classes are really manageable. My wife found it to be a perfect fit for her MBA and then on top of it they are giving her 25% off since we're both enrolled. Finally, I leave you with this; it isn't Iowa.

Im just glad I have Homan as my bodyguard, Eustachy joked. If I ever make it real big and get to drive a limo everyday, hell be driving it. I thought he came off the bench like somebody was stealing his cow or something.

    I've had the same idea.

If I were, my plan to to use them for my own benefit with no allegiance, treat them like a diaper in doing so, and discard them at the end in the same manner.

My wife undergrad'ed there as well, so she has .... allegiance. (I think I vurped a little too)

No, no, no - I still love her. I wonder why from time to time, but I still love her. She has a iowa t-shirt and sweatshirt, or two. She has the bumper sticker on the car. And I really get a little icked by it. But then she'll let drop that she loved her school, but hated hawk athletics, and I get a little tingle inside....

Honestly, for the return she should be getting on that tuition money, it seems very cheap. I just finished my MBA at The University of Chicago. My two year tuition bill? About $75k. Easily over $80k with books. It was still the best investment I could possibly have made.

I'd hope so. But she's not getting her MBA, she's getting her MSW (social work).

I'm not sure she'll see much of financial return, especially in the short run. But it opens alot of doors and options (so I'm told) and that could really be worth it.

Why not do it through ISU Continuing and Distance Education? LINK

Unless you're actually a closet Hawk Fan who needs a degree from Iowa.

My wife is going through them for her MBA and starts classes on monday. Do you have any experience with the program? Were heading up to Ames today to pick up her course packets.

Sorry no. My wife looked into it, but the MBA is not one of ISU's nationwide programs so we did not pursue it.
