Saints coach moving his family out of New Orleans

    ...and back to Dallas.

New Orleans Saints coach Sean Payton moving family to Dallas with Saints' OK - ESPN

There are some Saints fans who are not happy about this. And while the team has put on the happy face, I wonder if they sing the same tune behind closed doors? And beyond the speculation of what it might mean about his longevity as coach, is it reasonable for the Saints and their fans to expect their coach, who is making multiple millions of dollars, to at least live in the state, or is that asking too much? It's certainly an interesting question.

Can't really blame him. I wouldn't want to raise kids in that city

Do all of their players have their permanent home in New Orleans? I don't know why there would be a different standard.

    Or so I have read.

Don't blame him one bit NOLA is trash. It's as simple as that. If I had the choice to move my family out of there I know that I would...... oh wait I would never go there for any amount of money.

Re: Saints coach moving his family out of New Orleans

I have been to a lot of cities in the US, including a few times to New Orleans. I have friends down there too. I would not wish New Orleans on anybody. The Politics is as dirty as Bourbon Street which wafts puke and urine for blocks. And unfortunately, there is serious separation of the people which is very sad.

    That is one tough city.

I disagree, there are some awful nice parts of the city I would have no issue raising kids in, and other areas I'd avoid like the plague.

You'd move to New Orleans for 3 million a year.

I have been to NOLA and I didnt think it was any worse than any other City. But, I wouldn't want to raise kids there.

    My visit was Pre-Katrina 2004.

If you get off the beaten path there are alot of interesting neighborhoods.

While I'd love to find myself in a situation to deny this I'd do my best to find a way to get that money somewhere else. Yes I hate that city that much.

I love New Orleans, but I can understand how it's not for everyone. Comparing the NFL to college is probably apples and oranges, but if CPR's home wasn't in or near Ames I'd be pretty disappointed so I guess I can understand why fans might be upset.

Well, if Garrett doesn't work out, hopefully Dallas would have an advantage to get him.

Right, that's what the speculation is by their fanbase. There were already rumors in the last week that he was considering taking a position with the Cowboys. They have so far proved to be false rumors, but this just adds to the fire.

For the most part, I agree that it's not a huge deal, but I can definitely understand some New Orleans fans wanting reassurance from Sean. I think it has everything to do with the fact that he's moving his family to Dallas, where he previously coached. If they were moving to Arkansas or Alabama, I doubt it would be viewed the same way.

I'm sure Jerry Jones is thinking the same thing. New Orleans isn't a lifetime gig for Payton, I could see him going to Dallas down the road.

I'm fond of NOLA as well. A very unique place, one of the best cities in the US.
