    ISU revises sports complex plan

Apparently is response to angry neighbors, they are moving the track/soccer complex and softball field further south, away from the houses on the north. Another "fun" meeting for Pollard and Madden with these neighbors on the 15th.

Re: ISU revises sports complex plan

How much worse could this be over the students using this section. Let alone that this field had been used for other huge events (RAGBRAI) in the past and likely won't after the completion of these stadiums.

I think people just like to complain. I guess I shouldn't speak to loudly though because my wife complains about the HS stadium 3 blocks away that is used maybe 6 times a year.

Where does the scoreboard [from Jack Trice] end up on this plan? Also, any chance they pave over the old soccer complex to add parking to Lied?

A Baseball field would look great in that "Open Recreation Area"

I would actually hope that they keep the old soccer stadium intact and let the club lacrosse/rugby team use it as long as they put up the funds to keep it running.

That would be cool, particularly since the new complex is taking up the space used by those clubs. I don't know anything about lacrosse or rugby, though. Are their field dimensions compatible with a soccer field?

Any thoughts on if the roller hockey rink would be moved? Or would it be lost as part of this process?

I guess I assumed that rugby and lacrosse would use the flexible open space in the south east corner.

Could be wrong. Would be curious to know the dimensions.

I'm not sure the exact dimensions either but I know they could easily fit into the current soccer facility. It would be a pretty cool thing to do for those clubs too.

Also, I really hope that the athletic department is keeping that open space open in hopes of saving that area for a future baseball field. That would be sweeeeeet.

wouldn't the javelin be the one event you wouldn't want pointing towards a residential area? i'm sure they left enough room but still...

Makes perfect sense to complain--and to move it. After all, the dozens of people who attend such matches will make so much noise, they will doubtless have problems sleeping.

Oh wait--Soccer and Softball games are generally scheduled on weekday afternoons and very early weekend evenings, aren't they?

Assuming it's to scale, it would take almost a men's world record to reach the tree line.

And when the javelin throws get too long, the governing bodies just change the rules to reign them back in. I believe that the world record has actually decreased due to rule changes.
