One Iowa kid. I bet Dmac will land the occasional Iowa kid that doesn't get an offer from ISU or Iowa with his connections to the state. Oh yeah, and I am definitely cheering for Dmac to succeed at North Texas! No doubt about it!

well, if you use Rivals as a measuring stick, the class looks to be pretty much in line with what they normally get, mostly 2 stars with a few 3 stars.

Went through the Big-D on the way back to College Station at New Years just to see their new stadium. It's going to be nice.

I'm hoping Mac can succeed down there. I think his passion will work well with Texas high school players and coaches. Their upgrade in facilities will help.

Again, I read all of these types of posts, but I wonder why people think that.

I get that there are a lot more players, and they have upgraded facilities, but I mean what makes people think that he is automatically going to have success there?

I can even buy that he probably learned from Urban Meyer, and Jim Leavitt. But again, a lot of the problems that he had here had little to do with talent, and more to do with philosophy and game management.

I wish the guy well, but is it really plausable to think that old dog learned enough new tricks to overcome himself?

    Re: McCarney's first recruiting class.

Coach Mac can do more with less, he is in Texas now and will sweep up on under-rated kids and kids that want to stay local. Lets not forget that some of our best coaches were in Mac's tree (Paul Rhoads, Chris Ash, Todd Fitch, Tony Alford, Bobby Elliot, Steve Loney etc.)
Also,we have a great DC in Wally Burnham, but our defense hasn't been feared since 2005 under Skladany.
Mac knows what he is doing, and probably even more so after being in Florida.

I am not one that thinks Mac should have coached here forever, but what he did here with where we were as fans, players, facilities, donors, media, wins, etc when he arrived is a small miracle. Mac will do fine.
