    Remember Johnny's comments to Fred!!!

1st year you may lose but establish your style of play. The games at Hilton this year have been exciting and fun to attend. Points are being put on the board at a rate we haven't seen in many years. I believe the winning will come and Fred has made his style of basketball known.

This team comes out and plays hard wish we could finish games better but I'm still enjoying every game.

Absolutely ISYCyclone06. These kids are playing their hearts out and staying with teams they have no business playing with, and they are fun to watch, especially after GMac put us to sleep. We've got the right guy in Fred and the good years will be here soon.

I don't care how exciting the game is. I don't care if its 89-86 or 53-51, just win, baby.

The passion is returning for a lot of people.

I do care how we play. A game like this is just so much more fun. Losing stinks, but the show is better.

Winning with this style===the most fun that basketball provides.

One would ask how do you establish a style of play during a "throw away year"?

Re: Remember Johnny's comments to Fred!!!

Good point! After thinking about it for a while, I think this team is generally out-muscled, position by position, and that hurts them in getting critical stops and rebounds.

I'm really looking forward to seeing how Freddie's teams develop. They're great fun to watch, and the returning talent + the scout team should accelerate the rebuilding effort in year two.

I'd still like to see them get some positive momentum to finish the year, for the sake of DG.

Team is where the pundits put it. However they're very close to having won quite a few more of those games, with a squad that doesn't have the depth yet to play Fred's up-tempo game. They've established what CFH wants to play, which should appeal to recruits down the road, and to more fans when they're winning more of these close games. Only knock on these guys is on the defensive end early in games. I'm still proud of the guys playing this year, and looking forward to next year's deeper, and in theory more talented group of players. Go State!

Points don't mean squat...just score more than the other team. That is all anyone wants.

I hope this isn't the style CFH wants on the defensive end. The games are definitely exciting, but think how much more exciting they'd be if we could get some key defensive stops!

Re: Remember Johnny's comments to Fred!!!

Some of the plays we use are really fun to watch. One from today was when Scott pressed down the court, drew in the defenders, passed it out to Jake, who passed it to Bubu (I think), who then lobbed it to Vanderbeken for the two.

It was only worth two points, but the confusion and manipulation of the defenders combined with the fast pace made it a great play that was fun to watch play out. There's plenty of way more boring ways to get the same result, but it's not as awesome.

The ability to score points in bunches does. Johnny's teams had a knack for going on big runs that enabled them to bury some really good teams, especially in Hilton. Other teams would lose their composure, and after that was established, other teams coming in would get psyched out. Hilton got in their head.

Re: Remember Johnny's comments to Fred!!!

Today was the first game I've been to this season and I mentioned something like that to my buddy. It was 64-61 with like 10 minutes left and I said "Under McDermott this would be the final score and it's only the 10 minute mark."

The defense was abysmal. It reminded me one of the old school Orr teams that never played defense and just tried to outscore people

I'll take an 85-84 loss over a 53-52 loss anyday. Watching GMac teams try to score was about as exciting as a trip to the dentist, and he even had good talent.
