    Biggest Miss?

Grady, Green, Johnson?? I think Green would have been huge for us.. probably stings the most too with him Runnin' off to be a Rebel.. Vandy is bad too, but it's the SEC I guess..

    Grady IMO

I think even if he didn't make it at QB he would've made a very good, very intelligent safety and leader on D

    Re: Biggest Miss?

I won't mention the atrocity of Rutgers, that's one of those signing day surprises where the kid's heart is just set.. How could he possibly pick them over Miami, if not us.. Heck, they're all bad defeats imo!

    Re: Biggest Miss?

They're all bad, because of where they ended up going instead. But Green would have easily filled the biggest need.

Not to steal from CPR - but the biggest miss will be someone we signed that either flunks out or doesn't develop/contribute.

Correct... like a lot of our WR recruits over the years.

Getting Green would have been huge. That guy dominated games. And plugged the middle while having great pursuit. Definitely would have been very nice. And would have instantly put the DT position as a position of strength IMO. Green was that good.

So at the moment, flip a coin between Bo and Sed.

    Paul Rhoads' players never quit.
    (They just disappear offseason)

He ended up at UNLV, he wasn't that good.

Green was probably the unknown surprise.

I'm guessing it was Josh Grady based on the article that states he pulled a last minute switch from ISU to Vandy that surprised even his coach.

    Re: Biggest Miss?

Not a fan of the Chizzle but I do agree with something he said after his first signing day at ISU.
He said it's the ones you sign that don't work out that hurt more than the ones you miss.

    Re: Biggest Miss?

I said it before signing day and i say it again...If Grady was insistent on playing QB then he picked the right place. They have 2 senior qb's next season and after his redshirt he will have a chance to compete for starting job. He redshirts at ISU and he will be locked behind several good prospects. Plus ISU already had 2 qb in this class - Vandy zero...

Don't get me wrong, Grady was a terrific athlete and could have filled a number of voids for us early in his career. However, if the football was an equal to schooling - the young man made the right choice....Vandy is a revered academic institution and ISU is no slouch but we just dont match up to the academic standards of Vandy.

Green - not sure if he would be any better then who we have....we had a great chance at him, but, who knows what your gonna get - all american or bust...who knows...let UNLV deal with him and i will re-evaluate in 24 months and tell you if he was a loss.

Johnson surprised me....wow leave an offer on the table from miami....that really surprised me to go to Rutgers....shows that if you get the right coach to click with the right player that any school can pull in a very good player. Theres no comparing the two programs, weather etc etc...Rutgers just made the better sell. This is not the biggest loss in my eyes, this staff has built nice depth on the OL....

biggest loss i would say the following:
Randy Kellman (DE) - class of 2007
James Carpenter (OT) class of 2007
Chase Harper (TE/DE) class of 2008
Brandon Mims (Ath-Safety) class of 2009
Princeton Jackson (LB) class of 2009
Jon Watts (LB-DE) class of 2009
Taylor Martin (DE) class of 2009

These are all players that should be either contributing or working their way up through the system/depth chart to provide depth and all these players were deemed very athletic. The essence is to get highly athletic guys into the system, let them develop and start playing as RS-Soph and starting as Junior/Seniors. Thats the system that builds depth, and allows the players to develop prior to throwing them to the wolves that exist in the big 12....Especially OL and DL - those 2 position you have to allow those bodies to develop to handle what they will face every week in the big 12.....

Time will tell for the class of 2012 - i hope the kids we have signed will bring the lunchpail and do work.....that happens and the rest will work itself out....
