Big Ben goes out to bar, causes the media to explode

Ben Roethlisberger treats linemen to dinner, sings at bar - ESPN

How is this honestly a story? If it's a routine he has done before each Super Bowl, then what's to report? All because he gets in trouble in the off-season (which he was acquitted of), is he suddenly not allowed to have fun?

I wish the Super Bowl was over because I'm getting sick of hearing about these two teams and now the media is just reaching for stories. ESPN has been talking about this ALL DAMN DAY.

They were talking about this on SVP today. Complete non-story. I'm no Big Ben fan, but give me a break. This is not news.

I think Ben Roethlisberger is a bad guy all around. He has two questionable off the field incidents (3 if you count his freshman year at Miami OH) and takes no ownership for his actions. I'm embarassed that I even commented on this thread because the guy is a total piece

It's a story because he went to a bar and didn't force a co-ed into the bathroom with him.

Questionable incidents? At Lake Tahoe, he's accused of rape where the hostess changed her statement to consensual sex, and then was never charged with anything in Georgia. Sorry he's not a saint, but he's not a bad guy at all...

This. I love how people on message boards act like they know more than the investigators when it comes to alleged crimes! And how much their opinion changes based on the team that the player represents...whatever!

So he went out with friends, behaved, tipped well, and continued a tradition. Oh and he made curfew......don't see any issues at all.

Re: Big Ben goes out to bar, causes the media to explode

I have a hard time believing that one of the top QBs in the nation, who makes tens of millions a year and is on TV every week, has to rape anyone.

Obviously I'm not condoning rape. I'm just saying woman probably willingly throw themselves at him.

Re: Big Ben goes out to bar, causes the media to explode

    Only playing devil's advocate here.

Obviously, Ben doesn't need to attack women for that reason.

If (and I really mean if here, since he's never been charged) forcing himself was his thing, it probably wouldn't be because he felt he needed to, but because he wanted to, which is a whole other level of creepy.

But this is America, and he's still innocent. That's really important.

And this story never should have been a story. It's a real surprise to me that football players would go out together.

It's Super Bowl week guys, the media is going to be all over any possibility of a story because they're all in Dallas for the game.
