Why do we think the transfers are the answer?

They have not proved anything right?

Look at it from the other way, they haven't failed either. Just wait and see.

Why do you think they aren't the answer?

You do realize that only 1 transfer out of 5 is playing this year, correct?

Maybe you should wait until next year when the other 4 can play before you judge?

The answer, my friend, is blowin' in the wind.

The non-smartass answer is, instant roster rebuild.

We dont know. We just hope and pray. You are right to a degree. Having guys come in and making us a superstar team is a bit of a stretch when you consider they averaged between 4-9 points for their last teams.

I think it is just more exciting to see what those 4 can do, with the addition of the OTHER 4 recruits. Thats 8 new guys to bring in with Melvin, CG, Scotty, Bubu, and Jordan.

I look at it as just buying a little time, avoiding hopeless seasons until Fred can get some more recruits in. I think the 2011 season should be ok, but we could really get things ramped up in 2013.

To say Allen "hasn't proven anything" when he's played on a final 4 team is just ignorant.

Actually, Allen and Babb have both proven they are effective basketball players at the major conference level (at Michigan State and Penn State, respectively). I especially love the fact that they were both known for their defense.

Re: Why do we think the transfers are the answer?

These "transfers" you speak about are currently beating our starters by 20 pts in practice.

So I think you could safely assume that they will be an upgrade.

Additionally, we are bringing in Elgin Cook, Tyrus McGee, Tavon Sledge, and Anthony Odunsi to add to the mix. Just having all this added depth will improve us a ton!

Next year we will be 2 deep at every position on the floor. This year we aren't even really one deep at all the positions.

Maybe because we just might have more than six guys who can play on a given night?

    Exactly.

They've also proven a heck of a lot more than any recruits.

Obviously long-term you probably don't want to live off transfers alone, but you could ask the exact same question of every single recruit Hoiberg signs, 5 stars or no stars.

When did Babb and Booker ever play for an NCAA tournament team?

When you're overboard and adrift in a sea of losing, anything that floats by that you can grab onto for hope is the answer.

    You're absolutely right, though.

Re: Why do we think the transfers are the answer?

It is kind of ironic how JP put out that press release blasting transfers and then we become Transfer U. That was one of his moves that left egg on his face
